CaptainQuintero Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 So Colibri supposedly went out of business back in 2009 but the butane gas is still widely available, did they re-emerge and are still producing gas/other cigar products or is this just what is left of their stock? It's pretty much the only high quality butane available in the UK..... If so, I may have to stock up...butane can't go bad can it lol?
stogieokie Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 If they're not out of business they should be . . . one of the crappiest lighters I ever owned was a Trifecta. I hope it doesn't go bad--I bought a case of Lava the last time it was around--great butane, quintuple refined. It should hopefully last me the rest of my days.
seamus Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Bought out by Lotus. Was I was told by the service dept at Lotus anyway who now handles service for Dupont Xtends.
CM125 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Yes Colibri is back in business I was in my local B&M and they had a larger supply than Xikar. Prices started out at fifty dollars and went to one hundred dollars also sales person told me they have a lifetime warranty. I went with a xikar lighter anyway. Curtis
bc8436 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Owned 2 Colibri lighters, both were gifts and both crapped out after a few months of use. Not a fan
CUBANO Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Don't buy a Colibri. Have one that broke a few months after purchased repaired and broke again a few months later. Haven't use it in 8 years.
CaptainQuintero Posted July 22, 2011 Author Posted July 22, 2011 AH that's good news! I agree, I have only ever had one Colibri lighter and it died after a year, but they do make good butane...or at least they make the best butane available in the UK lol, no Xikar/lava/vector gas in the UK at all
nick17 Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 i have a Colibri lighter it works wonderfully when i dont almost burn my fingers off when lighting my cigar i find even though i have it turned way down the flame is still a little to hot but works rely well when its windy so i will live with it
davidl Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Hey Cap - interesting fact... the only premium butane available in Israel is also Colibri. It must be something related to shipping the stuff overseas. After reading all the great reviews on Vector fluid, I bought some in the US, and had a friend bring them over to Israel. Surprisingly enough, this is a BIG no no...as airport security caught the bottle and confiscated it. So I proceeded to buy Colibri fluid in Israel after all - I hope it keeps my new Xikar Element in good shape!
Cigar Connoisseur Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Calibri was the worst! When I first started smoking and before I knew any better I purchased a trifecta and executive lighter along with the some limited edition 1930 something (small and leather wrapped) All crapped out within 6 months. When I went to have the merchant help me with the warranty she got mad....
