asmith Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 We are progressively finding out which Cuban Cigar has the highest rate of member satisfaction (and the lowest). I will run through the 30 most popular cigars during April/May/June/July and will provide an ongoing chart to see how the cigars stack up. It should go without saying to only vote if you have actually tried one Feel free to post your experiences and thoughts on the thread Today's cigar: Cohiba Esplendidos
DougB Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 The '06's that I have were unreal a couple of months or so ago. I reached for another and found it was so-so but I am chalking that up to me, my mood, what I have been eating, etc., and not the cigar. I put them away for another few months to see if they return to the glory of before. Better yet, I am waiting until I return to a place to receive that glory is more like it....such a tasty, elegant cigar. The wrapper is inviting. Makes me want to bite it.
ksblazer Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 2006 Esplendido's were great!! One of the best cigars I've smoked
bassman Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Far too irregular in quality for the price. Can be quite sublime if you get a good one, but a lot of very ordinary Espies out there too. The Bolivar CG is much more consistant at a fraction of the cost of Cohiba.
NitrousPurger Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Never tried one but would LOVE to try a nicely aged one. Would have to save it for something special. Or just man up and buy a whole box... but then have to wait

However, they cost about twice what the Bolivar Corona Gigantes cost. Considering smoking pleasure to cost ratio, I'll take the BCG any day.
jedipastor Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 So are all JLs, SCdlHs, and Diplomaticos (guess there is only one of those now) terrible sellers? Just wondering. Also, is this the top selling cigars from the Czar store, or from from the HSA collective? And totally random, but I'm still really surprised at the low scores (relatively) for the VR Famoso and the PSP2. I'd also have thought the H.U. Mag 46 would have been into the 70s easy. But hey, I'm a noob, so what do I know
Lotusguy Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Love 'em but since they are so expensive, I don't buy them that often.
semery74 Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Looks like it is time to dig out a Sir Winston on this fine summer evening. I had no idea that I was harboring such a champion. I'm thinking I'll add a High Ball of George T. Stagg, packed well with ice and a chaser of Sweet Tea. It's going to be long evening with the boys.

It clearly states on the Stagg bottle 2-3 drops of branch water only!!!!!!!! JK back to the topic!
ewipper Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Im a card carrying member of esplendidos anonymous. Here's a vein.
TM-US Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I didn't want to vote because I've only ever smoked one, but I had a pre-2000 one recently (evidenced by the old label). Medium-bodied, incredible creamy smoothness, notes of coffee, cream and chocolate. It was probably the best cigar that I've ever smoked. No exaggeration. I would pay big bucks for a box of Esplendidos that were like the one I smoked!
Guest leanderdsilva Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Smoked one from a 3 pack I bought from the Czar. What a fantastic cigar! The first 2 inches was a bit plugged, but once it opened.........heaven

I agree that I was also surprised where the Famoso ranked.
rfenst Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 The last thing the poll is scientific- like 25 people trying 25 different cigars, all from the same box or something similar. More important, just smoke what you like and forget about poll results.
anacostiakat Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 I have had good experiences with these in the past. Last ones I smoked though were 04's. Their price just precludes me from buying them.
asmith Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 We have gotten a little lost in the last couple of days with the move etc so thought I would bring this to the top and tomorrow will start a new one. So get your votes in today for the best cigars.
kmagurk Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I have never had a bad Sir Winnie, thats why a keep a bunch on hand
Plato Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Smithy & Rob, I was thinking and I think you should add a tab that says "I have not smoked enough to cast a valid vote on." It would be just as interesting to see how many people can't cast judgement on a certain cigar, as it would be to see which cigar offers the highest rate of satisfaction. Just my two cents. Cheers, Mike
