Question for all the gurus out there.

When my son was born in 2008, I bought two boxes of cigars with date codes for his birth month. (Siglo II and the Monte 2008 LE)

The general thought was to save them until 2026 when he is 18 and enjoy some with him.

I admit... it was just a whim...

Any thoughts on if these will be smoke-able then? (As in will still have flavor.)

They're in my tupperdore in the basement, which is at a good temperature, and humidity, which I check regularly as it also holds lots of other HA goodies.

Great idea. I might just do the same.. Just curious - what did you buy?

I'm guessing Siglo II and Monty Sublimes :buddies:

Anyway love the idea! Been planning on doing the same if and when I have kids of my own. Ideally, like you, I'd try to get a box from the same month they were born in

Boxes like that will have unmeasurable sentimental value, regardless of how well the cigars smoke at the time you smoke them with your kid.

But one could assume the Sublimes will age pretty nicely! I think the Siglo's aging quality depends on their current state.

My bad... Thanks for point out the obvious...

Well... out of the box of Monte Sublimes... there are only 8 of the 10 left... :-)

The Siglo II box is inspected every few months for mold, etc. But, otherwise intact.

I bought 2 boxes of the Siglo II, but the second box... which was not from his birth-month, but the following month... has been smoked. They were all quite good, except for every other cigar had a burn issue. Not a bad one though.

I did the same, two boxes of Trinidad Ingenios LE DIC 07

I also went with this idea for my daughter's birth as I wasn't smoking cigars when my son was born. Went with a 50-ct cab of Partagas Lusitanias...
