El Presidente Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 A significant number of you have purchased them and I suspect many of you have at least tried one...put them away..and maybe tried another after 30-60 days What is your opinion on the cigar albeit early days?
CBL Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I've stuck the 10 I got from Czar and put them in an empty Partagas 898 box and hopefully I can stay away from them for a year or two. But I think I'll get a single from my local B&M to try soon.

I have smoked five so far and I have enjoyed them. Construction has been great. I am glad I purchased a box. I think they are going to be great cigars in a few years. Thank you Kwg116

Wilkey PS, additional questions...how do these compare to the PL Lonsdales? I honestly didn't get much out of that release and I did smoke from several boxes.

The construction has been excellent but it will take time for the flavors to develop and for the sweetness to emerge. I am hoping for the best. I have to reserve judgement for 2-3 years minimum. I think that is the reality for Por Larranaga.

The PL lonsdales are not ready, IMO. Another couple of years, I'd say.

riazp Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I've only had one from the 3 I snagged in a box split and it was good, nothing to rave about, but not aweful, the other two I have are burried in the bottom of my humi so I dont find them for a few years!

I didn't find any Caremel notes in it. I know there were other Robusto sizes issued in previous years... under different names for the PL. That's why I asked.

MPS Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I smoked 2 PL Encantos and I was not impressed. In general the Asia Pacific releases have underwhelmed me. The PL Magnificos, Lonsdales and Regalias are the best PL RE's IMHO.
OZCUBAN Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Have had about three of these so far from a box,I generally agree with what has been said so far ,these do have that sweetness that is associated with the mark in general,they were very nice considering there youthn,I have a gut feeling that these babies will be something really special given enough time ,how much time is the million dollar question ,but still think given time they will shine OZ
olotti Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I've smoked three so far and loved all three. Great size, nice med body, nice PL profile with a little extra sweet spice. I think they're great to smoke now but you can tell the youth as the flavor while nice is a little thin as is the finish. I see this becoming more viscous, coating the mouth if you will as these age and the sweetness will really envelope the flavor profile.

I saw on another board people saying they were just longer PLPCs. Totally disagree. Because of the size/rg they are going to develope in a different direction than your standard PL. For the price/presentation they are worth it. The 898 varnished will also make a difference. I have seen these get bad reviews and people started selling their boxes. If you already have a box keep them. I think Rob will review them in a year and there will be a run on the remaining boxes. Thank you Kwg116
mm12 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I think these are ok now, but will be MUCH better in 3-4 years. To me, they don't like a longer PLPC, they taste like a thicker PL Montecarlo. They have they wood/cream/caramel flavor profile to them, and I think if you give the sweetness some time to develop, these will be damn good.

I also agree that they need some time to shine. I'm looking forward to trying them again. Will leave them in the humi for a while.

About 1/3 into an Encantos and really enjoying it, love the size and the flavor is pretty darn good. Considering its relative youth, I'm very impressed.

I will wait till the holidays before I try another one. I think they will be great eventually ESPECIALLY considering the very reasonable price copmpared to other RE's. d
