asmith Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 We are progressively finding out which Cuban Cigar has the highest rate of member satisfaction (and the lowest). I will run through the 30 most popular cigars during April/May/June and will provide an ongoing chart to see how the cigars stack up. It should go without saying to only vote if you have actually tried one Feel free to post your experiences and thoughts on the thread Today's cigar: Vegas Robaina Famosos
sg1234 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I can count on one hand how many Famosos I have smoked, but I have enjoyed them all. I love the mix of black coffee and bittersweet cocoa on these. They are rich in a subtle way.
mm12 Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Smithy, Is Ramon Allones disqualified from this competition or something? It's weird to see thirtysomething cigars go up for a vote and not see a single RA. As for the Famosos, I think they're a good cigar overall as is the rest of the VR marca. Always very consistent in my experience, but from what I've read on the board here, VR may be having some problems recently. Latest production VR I have is 08, I think.

davidl Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 What can I say guys, VRF seems to be one of my favorite cigars so far. I say this with mixed feelings, as the last box I bought was almost all plugged. Crazy construction issues ect. With that said, the cigars that did smoke well, tasted great. I'm not sure I am willing to risk $$ on another box until I hear Rob telling us all that quality has changed. Just my 2 cents.
nick17 Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 i have a box of the VR Famasos and each one so far has been cra yet every single i bought before the box was a amazing
cigarmonologues Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I've generally found VRF's to be fine smokes. Unfortunately, along with quite a few others I gather, I had some issues with 09 and 10 boxes - one BOTL I know well even questioned whether his box was genuine! They do seem to have settled down into good smokes again after a couple of years in the humi (after a very long, very bad, sick period).
Pilsner14 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Just returned with a box from Varadero. Not that impressed. These cigars are rolled tighter than tight with maybe 5 or so cigars in the box that meet spec. JD
tsolomon Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Another one of my favorites, but the draw can be an issue. The 08s were very good, but the I have had a lot of draw problems with the 09s. A great cigar when it's on.
frenchkiwi Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 hey smithy, do you think you could add the sample size for each cigar or just number of votes per option to your nice graph it will help it "speak" to me - and hopefully others! - statistically? cheers
