TexS Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 How should I get rid of these stubborn little bastards? I removed every cigar and blew off all of the mites, but they are back. Can I put my humi in the freezer for a few hours? Please help. These damn things are driving me nuts!!!
Cig Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I had them and dusted off each stick, wiped out the humidor and put the cigars in ziplock bags for a few days to see if they returned. I froze some cigars, but not all of them just to see what would happen. Never had them come back. Oh, and I relocated my humidor to a cooler part of the house.
Chicago Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 After you have dusted off the cigars, try vacuuming the humidor. I wouldn't worry too much they are harmless. I had then once, easy to get rid of.

I'll bet your RH is a little high...(that's the only time that I see them.) Give them all names and smoke those bastards up! extra flavor.
Cohiba Stevie Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I would be very concerned as to your diagnosis of wood mites in your humidor, wood mites are practically microscopic and if you can see visible organic life within your humidor its most probably tobacco beetle. Wood mites are hard to see with the naked eye, given the term 'mites' Get everything in freezer... Humidor, boxes, cigars everything.

Take your cigars out, brush them down. Vaccum humidor an cigar boxes. Put humidor and cigar boxes (open them) in the full sun for a few hours. Put everything back together.
