Sometimes the Lord speaks to me! I think this time he channeled Smithy and he found a nice box of QdO Coronas Claro for the LITH sale. Well, live in my humidor I have this delightful box TEB 07. And guess what? The Lord said, "Smoke one of those bad boys, you dumb sonofabitch!"

Thanks Lord for another fine day above ground, and an excellent cigar to smoke while experiencing it. Your obedient servant, Mr. Piggy!

Now here's a marca you hear virtually nothing about! Need more info man!

What is the flavor profile, and how is the construction?

A lovely and sooooo underestimated cigar!

Maybe the Lord will encourage me to visit one of my boxes today... :pig:

I have listened to your witnessing of the Habanos.

Well, gentlemen as I type I am finishing the remainder of this cigar. This was truly food of the Gods! What a wonderful smoke, desrving a lengthy and detailed review, which I don't have time for this evening.

Frankly I can't believe this was a cigar!

Lady Piggy makes these fruit chutny concoctions which she likes to serve warm over vanilla ice cream. After the fruit is gone there is a remainder of pie spice, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon... which blends with the oatmeal cursted with sugar and cream. This cigar, while far more complex than that brief description was a delightful blend of that and a cigar.

I doubt I will likely top this cigar this year. A true delight. I wish I had the coin. The several boxes of these I own is just not enough. I don't smoke them enough and could easily own 25 boxes of them. A delightful smoke. Coronas are last of a dying breed, get them while you can!

Cheers.

Good pick up on the ones Mr. Smith posted. I wolulda' snapped at those in a heartbeat if I could afford to be adding cigars to my online locker.

Best flavour profile ever.

I would have never have guessed that this cigar came from my humidor. I really would have thought that it was over-humidified if I had not had this box in my humidor for 3 years at 60 RH. As I said this cigar was just fantastic. I enjoyed every bit of it.

For those of you who have not tried these, you should consider a couple of singles.

Thanks Ray... well put description of the cigar...

I was inspired by your post and decided to pull out a box of these I've had for a little while. Only smoked one shortly after I got them and wasn't all that impressed. Let's just say these have definitely stepped up to the plate. While I can't describe in a lot of detail, I will say it reminds me of a well aged ERDM Choix Supreme with a light layer of citrus. Extremely smooth and well balanced. Glad I gave these another shot.

I was looking at picking up this box as well but I have read that the body is very mild, can you provide a little insight on whether the cigar was mild, medium or strong.

Mate, while this is only my opinion, generalized 'expert' opinion profiles, keep more people from enjoying good cigars than those ugly pictures of a poor little girl suffering from asthma! See for yourself mate! Man, if I followed the ebb and flow of trends, I would drive a Smart car instead of a Harley, or diesel pickup, have an astroturf lawn, play video games instead of shoot guns, smoke the RASS and the Cohiba robusto instead of the Lanceros or Monte Especial.

I think I am better off. Brokeback Mountain got great reviews!!! Have at it. I would rather see cowboys, gunfightin' in the streets, than swollowing swords in the bedroom, but that is just me mate!!!

Silly emhasis is humorous, not intended to impughn your manhood!!! -Piggy

Nice post PigFish. These are wonderful cigars. Light and refreshing on those warm summer days. Pair this with your favorite beverage and you have one heck of a combination.

I would never normally buy a box of cigars without trying out at least one single first but you're glowing praise is almost tempting me to pull the trigger on a box of these coronas.

Ever thought of a job in sales?

Tried to send you this message Piggy, but your inbox seems to be full of either fan mail or death threats from HSA already :P So I decided to dig this topic up to make an enquiry.

I'm considering getting a box of the Quai D'orsay Coronas Claros to smoke in a short term period (it's my last year of college in this country and I have limited space to sit on a box for ages before being able to smoke it) I've chosen the QdO, because the beaten path has disappointed me the past year and a lot of cigars have made me lose a bit of my passion for Cubans :(

Anyway before I pour my heart out over this lost love.... :P I'd love to know your thoughts on either the '06 boxes or '09 boxes (Both LRE boxcodes). I'm tending towards the '06 for obvious reasons, but you might have a better insight on the differences between these boxes.

I'm planning on keeping 10 to 15 sticks in my humidor and the rest of the box would go to The Netherlands for safekeeping (again, storage issues)

Would you recommend one of these boxes to smoke well over the next year?

I'd be very grateful with any input.

Thanks,

CB

I guess you decided to steal one from you future also :)

How do these compare to the Gran Corona that were discontinued a few years back?

No time for this, this morning. Will try in the PM (post meridian!) -Ray

Always best to email me. smokedpigfish(use @ symbol here)hotmail.com I have no control over the local PM system and don't prefer to use it. Indicate you are from FoH so I don't toss the email.

I'd love to know your thoughts on either the '06 boxes or '09 boxes (Both LRE boxcodes).

While this question was not directed to me, I seem to remember reading some discussion somewhere about how both the LRE 06 and LRE 09 codes may actually be 09 boxes, the theory being that no one had seen any LRE code that was not an 09, except the LRE 06 codes turning up on boxes of QdO. The explanation given was that the 6 turned out to be 9 and, predicably, "It's Cuba."
