gigabyte056 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Smoked today the Partagas shorts, it came from a cab of 50 from September 08. Smoked outside, humidity is 70% temp is 26c Paired with Highland park 1992. Appearance is good , almost no veins and good wrapper, hard to the touch Cold draw , peppery and slightly tight. First notes are pepper with woody notes, tannin on the lips. Ash is packed and light grey. first third: Wood and pepper, slight vanilla, some dark chocolate. Second third: Woody and peppery , some toasted nuts flavor come out. Final third: Wood is almost gone, more nuts and chocolate. Classic for the brand and the Vitola, no suprises with this one. Medium to full in body, needs 2-3 years to lose some of the exess pepper, ROTT this cab showed very strong pepper over shadowing the rest of the tastes. It's time to ravage this cab
El Presidente Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Enjoying one now with my morning coffee. You are spot on!
jkljkl Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Nice review. There's nothing like a good 50 cab of p shorts.
SCgarman Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 These are next on my ''to buy'' list as soon as they come back in stock -50ct cabby!
ramon_cojones Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I need to buy an aged cab to go along with my newer cab
docbp87 Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Wow, that's actually a pretty attractive looking Party short. The examples I have smoked tend to not be the prettiest cigars, but the wrapper on that one actually looks great! Definitely one of my favorites in this size, and I am a huge fan of this format in general. Thanks for the review.
riazp Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Exellent review, Pretty much spot on with the flavors, I was getting pretty much the same thing from the one I had this morning with my espresso, just not as pretty as yours though!
Cambridge1 Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I have a 25 box of HQ Partagas shorts from '08 and they are amazing right now.
headstand Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Thanks for posting. I was about to post a review on the Partagas Short when I saw yours. Clearly your cigar is closer to the norm. Mine was a very different experience. Tunnel down the centre from beginning to end due to very coarse filler. Pleasant enough flavours of wood (not cedar) and spice. Did not get vanilla or chocolate - more along the lines of Asian spices (Chinese 5 SPice?). First 1/2 was light bodied, but within the space a two draws it went to near 898 caliber richness and body for the rest of the cigar. Bit of a crazy ride. Will be looking for an opportunity to give the PS another try.

This is the same box as that one , just stored over the last 6 months in exactly 65% and 17.5c
