As a lover of fine cigars, I've scoured the internet reading about, learning about and just enjoying this ridiculously expensive compulsion I have.

A friend who regularly travels overseas gave me several Cuban cigars from a recent trip. The first I tried was a Montecristo #2. After a long night of great food and drink, we settled on my deck with a glass of bourbon and the Monte. I've since learned how variable the Monte #2 can be, but this first cigar was phenomenal. The prelight draw gave me hints of tremendous flavors and spices and I nursed the cigar for 90 minutes, enjoying every creamy sensation it gave me. I've since smoked the Monte #4, the Bolivar Bellicoso, several different Cohibas and a new favorite, the Monte Petite Edmundo.

Since that first night, I've been obsessed with learning about Cuban cigars and trying to find a way to "legally" obtain my own instead of making my friend be my "mule" as he goes through US customs. A quick internet search turns up many sites that will ship cubans into the US - but who to trust? To whom do I turn for advice and truth in an age when the internet can turn the smallest lie into a widespread truth? (hey, I like that last sentence - sounds like really grade A bull$hit but it sums up the experience).

So far, I've met with mixed results in my quest to experience and obtain good cuban cigars. But last week, I stumbled across this place. It seems almost too good to be true. A real community of likewise obsessed deviants with nothing better to do than smoke and talk about cuban cigars. I keep coming back and exploring further which leads me to my topic - Is this place for real? I think I've found cigar nirvana. When I discovered the PSP/HQ forums, I knew I was hooked and sadly, soon to be much poorer!

I'll jump in slowly around here out of respect and perhaps, a little fear of my own ignorance. But I'll be obsessively following the reviews and topics in the forums to learn what (and who) I can.

So, greetings from Kansas and the US midwest (go Jayhawks - I notice a few more around here). Look forward to meeting a few of you and following the ways of the cuban lovers.

Welcome to the matrix, Gary.

Cool. Do I get a nice trenchcoat and lots of firearms now? Or do I have to reach a certain postcount first?

Cypher: "I know this steak doesn't exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years, you know what I realize? Ignorance is bliss."

Some call me Morphius...I guess you took the Blue Pill and landed in FoH. All jokes aside, this place is what I call HOME for the puro enthusiast. Definitely worth being a member......

Cheers

Ok. So maybe I exaggerated. It's probably closer to 6 blocks.

Drop me a line the next time you're around and we can share a cuban in kendall's nice lounge. I like to go in with my flask of Jameson and enjoy his place when the weather is poor.

Hi Gary and welcome to FOH, it is hard for us behind the "Iron Curtain" to believe the rest of the world can and does enjoy the infamous Cuban Cigar. I too also thought we live in the land of the free.

I know I will be there on Aug, 20th for another one of Kendall's famous events.
