mm12 Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 I just finished smoking one of these and it was hands down the best cigar I have ever had and it's just over a year old. Medium to medium full in body. The first third was like a combo of an RA 898 and a really good Siglo VI. Cherry and Christmas spice over a backdrop of really rich vanilla cake. Second third had a great rum raisin flavor and the final third was butter, toffee, cherry, and just a hint of white pepper. Easily a 98 point cigar. I'm absolutely amazed at how much these cigars have evolved over such a short period time. Whoever came up for the blend for this definitely needs a promotion or two within HSA. As much as I hate all the deletions of classics followed by more and more special releases, they really hit the ball out of the park on this one. I'd take this cigar in an instant over anything that's been done away with over the past decade. Absolutely brilliant.
MadMax Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 When I smoked the first two last August ROTT they were fantastic! Sweet graham cracker, wonderful red pepper finish, with a last 3rd of chocolate mousse. Then they went to sleep quickly. The next three had zero flavor. Funny, I planed on smoking one tonight to see where they are at since the last one I smoked in October.
ramon_cojones Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 I have one of these in my humidor right now, I enjoyed the 2005 uk belicoso but my 08 d4 was better. Interesting to see how this 2010 will stack up.
pedromendes Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Couldn't agree more!! Had one last summer that was equally as awesome... and I have 9 more in my humidor
bassman Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 IMHO, the German RA Beli is much tastier than the UK version. But other's taste may be different. I'm very happy to have one & 1/2 box left of these.
MadMax Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Well I smoked one last night. The first since October, it wasnt bad, but it wasn't good. The Flavors were still muted, I will try one again next June and see were their at.
cigcars Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 *I'm gettin' ready to go smoke a Bolivar long lancero Alamenia (German) RE now. Not my preferred size but it came in that sampler box with the 5 Regional sizes courtesy of 5td Ave. Habana cigars distributors.

PAL Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 had one last night. I had heard how wonderful they are, some saying exceptionally good. Tracked down a box in the UK earlier this year (cost quite a bit) which I was told was the last full box around; thought this could have been sales talk. Still, it was the only one I could find. Well, have been letting them sit for about three months at about 67%. As it was my smoking buddies' 45th birthday decided to crack it open and we each had one. Beautiful cigar, nearly perfect complexion, soft and inviting. An excellent example of a fine looking and feeling cigar. Lit up quite easily and burned as good as it looked. Draw was 'perfect' and produced lots of white smoke. The ash was a rather firm salt-pepper with an impressive wave; cuban signature wavey ash? Some sweetness and other pleasant flavors (sorry my taste-buds are not gifted enough to pick up all the flavors I read about) most noticeable in 2nd third, but a disappointing lack of finish throughout. Flavor picked up in the 'second half' but so did an undertone of bitterness, just a bit, but enough to take away from the already 'thin' flavor profile I perceived. Did I enjoy it: sure, it was an OK smoke, in terms of flavors despite the weak finish (can't taste much, so, perhaps, finish is something I fixate on). The construction and beauty of the cigar was great. The draw was aces. Overall though, a bit of a let down considering how highly folks here rated them (which is what prompted me to get them). Not a bad smoke, but certainly no 'better' than a Monte #2 and maybe not as good as the Padron 44 I had just before it (yeah, it was 'birthday cigars' for my buddy). Was drinking Ron Zucopa 23 while smoking these. Its a good 'cigar rum' for sure, to be be fair, not a great 'deep tasting of cigars' drink, I guess, as its rather sweet and might have impacted my reaction to the smokes. Still, if the smoke is good, it should shine through.... Now I got the rest of the box, which, in terms of rarity and such is nice, but a smoke, its, eh...OK. PAL
CBL Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Interesting to see the variation in opinions. I remember I smoked one in the summer of 2009 with a good friend of mine (I picked up two singles in Germany) and I absolutely loved it (one of the best pyramids I ever smoked) and my friend thought it was just alright. Lots of people on other fora also thought it wasn't that great. I wonder if it's a quality issue or that it has a distinct taste profile that people either love or hate. I'd love to try another single some day to see how it compared to the "fresh" one. Hopefully I'll be able to find a single in Germany next year

I shall try another one in a week or two just to make sure it was not just a matter of what I ate or was drinking or smoking last night. I want so much for these to be the cigar-nirvana I seek.... PAL
Marker Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I would like to trade for one if there is someone who would not mind letting one go. I am a big fan of the belicoso sized CCs.
Lotusguy Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 <snip> Hopefully I'll be able to find a single in Germany next year No chance, I'm afraid - they are completely sold out everywhere.
