A couple of weeks ago I was in Dublin for the final of the Europa League. FC Porto and FC Braga, both of Portugal, were the two teams contesting the match at the new Lansdowne Road stadium. To mark the occasion, I bought a Cohiba Siglo I to smoke before kick-off. Pictures of the cigar and ground can be found below, with a mini review of this small cigar.

Due to time being tight I wanted a short smoke and the Siglo I was a cigar I had not yet tried and was keen to do so. My enthusiasm at seeing so many beautiful cigars in the shop led to me being careless though, and I purchased my Siglo I without thoroughly inspecting it. If I had I would have realised that it was overhumidified, but to be honest, chances are I would have bought it anyway, such was the strength of idea in my head that I was going to smoke one before the match!

The cigar itself looked gorgeous: construction was flawless and the cut that I had asked the merchant in the shop to make for me was surgical. I could smell chocolate and grass from the cigar, while the pre-light draw had good resistance and tasted of quality tobacco, citrus fruit and grass.

Due to over humidification, the Siglo I took longer to light than would be expected and was difficult to keep lit. Flavours were of tobacco, chocolate and grass and it really did feel like a top quality smoke.

Duration of the smoke was an interrupted 30-40mins. When the Siglo I was smoking, it smoked well and had beautiful flavours, but the problems caused by overhumidification detracted from the enjoyment and led to it being set down early. This is a cigar that I will definitely buy again to enjoy under the proper conditions!

As for the football match… The new Lansdowne Road ground is incredible, especially from the outside. The game itself was a bit of a let down. FC Braga seemed to have very little desire to win the match and in the end it was a relatively comfortable win for FC Porto. The final score was 1-0, the winner a great header from 10 yards by main man Falcao.

All in all a grand day out!
