TexS Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Just received a cab of PLPC. One of the sticks was pretty beaten up on the foot, so I decided I would smoke it instead of putting it in the humidor. Even though the wrapper was torn in several spots it burned on a razors edge and was a very good smoke. I hope this is a prelude to what is yet to come from this fruity little cigar. If this one **** was this good, Im sure the best is yet to come. Delicious!!!
tmac77 Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 One of my favorite cigars. I have 3 cabs of them. well 2 and 1/4 now and another on the way
duwan Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I'm a petite corona freak. I keep a cople cabs of the PLPC at all times.
BradNC Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I'm going to have to consider this one. I don't really like them too small though.
cigcars Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 *Hey! Somebody on the forum talking about some wonderful smokes just being available only in small sizes...Thank you, BradNC! WHY did Habanos SA decide that nobody wanted at least a lonsdale size or larger in the Por Larranaga series anymore??!! The Por Larranagas are a great habana smoke, and the only sizeable ones available anymore are the Regionals...and unfortunately, they don't really cut too much mustard much of the time PLEEEAAASE, HSA, bring back El Rey Del Mundo Lonsdales; Por Larries Lonsdales; and such that are regular production

Traz Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Por Larranaga Petit Coronas were the first Cabinet I ever purchased...although mostly because I had no choice. I've had several so far and they were mostly pretty decent with one exception. Seemed like they put the best ones on top because when I went to take 15~ of them with me to a mate's birthday party and I got to lower layers there were quite a few rock-solid cigars. And I don't mean that in the good way. I thought I had handpicked 15 good ones but funnily enough at some point I ended up with one of the over-filled (or whatever) ones and the unrelentingly-tight draw made me throw it in the fire around the halfway point. Puffing like mad to get next to nothing. The one I had the night before was excellent and smoked like a dream, and I recall having one the previous week or so which was also top-notch. Guess we can't expect to end up with 50 gems in a Cabinet; but so many of them felt rock-hard. A dozen would be my hopeful estimate. >_@ Humidity is always 65-70%~, and they are over a year old and have been in my humidor for several+ months. Still, I'll slowly but surely smoke through all the good ones and see how many duds I end up with.

I do have them stored at 65% and 17c, never do I smoke one before it has 2 years on it and some I have with 4+. Whats your temp and do you dry box prior to smoking?
Traz Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Straight into the humidor once they arrive at my house. Just checked and currently my temp and humidity are exactly the same as yours, 17c and 65%. The bad one I threw away at the halfway point might have still been smokable with time and patience; but I was busy playing pool and my tolerance went out the door. Had not come across a bad one previously, but quite a few of them felt pretty damn hard when I was selecting some good ones for the party.
gigabyte056 Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I have gone to the humidor and checked. Some of them are harder than the rest but are still very enjoyable. I don't remember how many per box but I think I have had no more than 3 harder smokes per cab. They were all smokable but not as good as the rest. Still one of the best PC in my book, up there with the Boli and the Dip 4.
thechenman Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Ahhh...the PLPC, on of my favorite PCs and CCs for that matter. Tough to beat at their price point too.

CaptainQuintero Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 How have y'all found them to be young? I think nearly all PL need at least 3 years on to get the best out of them. For me PL is caramel and it takes a few years for that to develop its strength of flavour. EG I have PL UK regional from 2010 sitting for a few years but I have PL PC to ride out the wait They are still very nice young they just get better with a few years on in my experience.
mkz Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Recieved my second cab of these today and what strikes me is that of all the habanos I´ve smelled so far, the PLPC has the most intense barnyard aroma. Truly mouthwatering!
jedipastor Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 This is one of the famous Habanos that I've never tried. It's the long age requirement that has disabled me in this case, as opposed to price. I don't mind aging something that I know will be good or that is already good and will get better. I don't have any interest in guessing if I'll like it in 4 years ... not for a 50-cab, lol. Although the "caramel and cream" profile sure sounds great! I'll probably try to trade for some aged ones at some point.
ramon_cojones Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 ^same here, had one from 08 that was ok but no desire to age for 5 years for the flavor to come out when there are so many great smokes out there
