JimGuitar Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Probably a guitarist. I have come quite close to doing this over the years, but never really threw myself into it like perhaps I should have, probably through the fear of earning breadcrumbs. Session work on the side is probably enough to leave me contented these days, i'm too deaf .
sloth Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I was on the fast track to being a starving artist when I was in college. Then something happened, maybe I just got cold feet and now I'm suck in a dead end job. I would like to be an artist living in the south of France... I would paint in my free time and have a full time job mooching cigars from Guy.
LeafLover Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Internet web developer/programmer. With that knowledge I would go to town building websites and applications.
Mr.T Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Great question and food for thought - I'd want to be an archeologist. I love traveling, exploring new and exotic places and discovering the past. Or anything that would pay me to travel, eat food, drink and explore the local culture. I'm thinking about Anthony Bordain and or Man vs. Food.
Cohiba Stevie Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Sound engineer, record producer. Or run my own flooring contractor firm (thats what ive done since ive left school, served my aprenticeship and few years and then dumped on my ass and made redundant). Working for a mobile phone company now and its mind-numbing, soul destroying and demoralising lol. Any UK or irish folks looking for a grafter? Lol
traded Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 If you read my post on interview woes...this is extremely timely. I would probably become a physician (MD) rather than a research scientist (PhD). If were talking dream job, then I would run a LCDH in my favorite California town....double dream I suppose david
Guest RobinFadal Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I'm a tax lawyer by trade but would love to have done something in the wine industry... possibly a wine critic. Ken, do need some help?
El Presidente Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 I'm a tax lawyer by trade but would love to have done something in the wine industry... possibly a wine critic. Ken, do need some help? Ken is currently away doing his Tax.....the "Shoebox King" You two should get together !LOL!

Bartolomeo Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 1. F1 Driver 2. Marine Biologist 3. Own a restaurant Bart
Fuzz Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Does being a manbag to a young heiress count as a profession?
cookie_1978 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 If I could switch, I would be a profession golfer. A good one on tour. They have the life.
Scdalak Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Just Honeymooned in Bora Bora, I recon selling T-Shirts and Tuna Fishing wouldnt be all that bad..
traded Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Just Honeymooned in Bora Bora, I recon selling T-Shirts and Tuna Fishing wouldnt be all that bad.. I honeymooned there exactly 2 years ago. SImply paradise. Where did you stay? David
Scdalak Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Four Seasons...PAradise is an understatement, truly a once in a lifetime experience. Unless of course I go back to sell t shirts and captain a tuna boat!!!!!!
bigfunkyg Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I'm a designated accountant with seven years of education. I didn't pick my career because I loved accounting but because I thought it would provide me and my family with the lifestyle I wanted. That said I always thought being a Pilot would be an interesting career. It definatly wouldnt be a great family choice but a great way to see the world. Second pick would be a chef. Cooking is a passion of mine but it too would have it's drawbacks. G
Sutton Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Well i pull wrenches for a living on industrial equipment... I really can't see myself doing anything different I like what i do. There are always those days where somtimes a guy just needs a change, until then i will get back to you.
pinotguy Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I'd go with being a Professional Hunter in Africa (Zambia, Tanzania, or CAR) or a pilot with the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels (preferably #5 or #6).
Traz Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Unfortunately the Printing industry is going savagely down the drain...where scoring a fulltime position in a company you've never worked for is almost equivalent to the luck of winning the Lottery... And this is a job I wouldn't really want to trade for anything else. The pay is high, the shifts are excellent (3X 12-hour work weeks = 4-day weekends; or a lot of extra dough for Overtime), and the intelligence required is Sweet-F/A. (Perhaps I'm slightly modest). In saying that, you do still need at least half a brain and a Trade certificate...both of which I eventually acquired. Somehow. ---Anyhow, excuse the fact that my current profession is awesome, despite the current lack of fulltime employment in my case, if we're talking about another job that I'd actually like to do, aside from be quite content with, it'd have to be Writing. Writing stories, that is, of the fictional kind. I'd be quite happy to be paid 100K~ each year just to write; even if it takes me 2 or 3 years to actually get a book out there. I can swing out a decent sentence when the need arises as it is, sober or no, but I could only ever Write in the sense I'd like the most when money was no object; just for fun. Hence it's never going to happen. >_>
arnehd Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Butcher and Steakrestaurantowner. Producing and dry aging your own product and giving customers and myself the best quality possible. Ok, the workhours are hard and I would probably be my best customer, broke and dead because of a heart attack. But the sometimes dry aged meat I see on a daily basis is not really edible and cattle hardly complains.
