utsao Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Hi everyone, found this to be a great site with tons of info last month when I started looking into cigar enjoyment. I'm a HK born Canadian based in Yixing, Jiangsu province of China right now for business. If anyone's in the area, drop me a message! Recently I landed some deals with local Chinese customers for heavy equipment (my company manufactures mining/quarry equipment) and wanted to get something special for Chinese New Year gifts. You can find any sort of luxury item right now in China like fine red wine, etc but fine cigars in tier 2/3 cities seem to be out of reach for most so I ended up getting a box of Monte Cristo for him. He barely finished the first "no, thanks" out of politeness before he said "yes yes yes thank you thank you!" when I presented him the box and told him they're from Cuba LOL. So on the next trip back to HK, I tried to hit all the stores that I found mentioned on FOH but unfortunately most of them were closed for Chinese New Year; found one that was open and the store manager lady was super nice and explained a lot of basics to a newb like myself.

CanuckSARTech Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Thanks guys!Wow Canuck, you have quite a stash in quite an impressive array of humidors! Thanks Usoff, I appreciate that. And, mine is nothing compared to some of the other BOTL's on here. There's lots of invaluable info to be had from the pages within, and lots of knowledgable folk, with many many years of experience in this passion/hobby. Enjoy, and welcome again. Cheers.
wen1979 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 welcome! Isn't Yixing the place which makes the famous Chinese Zisha teapots?
utsao Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 welcome! Isn't Yixing the place which makes the famous Chinese Zisha teapots? Yep it is! Though I'd be careful of knock-offs these days as they stopped giving permits to mine the purple clay after people were digging holes everywhere in the countryside for the stuff!
Peter11216 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Welcome. Did you say where in Canada you lived?
