The properties of the Heritage Society, the Quinta de los Molinos Garden, National Association of Botany Amateurs and the Juan Tomas Roig Environmental Protection and Benito Juarez House will welcome all those interested in the world of orchids and other ornamental plants.

The previous edition of the festival held last December was successful, according to a note issued by the organizing committee, so this upcoming event is expected to become ideal sites for dialog among the cultivators

and experienced fans.

The participants will be able to attend workshops and conferences and exchange experiences with botanists, conservationist, artists, photographers and naturalists: lovers of a plant that has over 20 000 species in the world, distinguished for its modified petal and appreciated for its delicacy.

The program of activities includes children´s drawing contests, photography, philatelic expositions, painting and live plant samples of which Cuba has reported over 300 species, including the so called frog or ghost, chocolate or cinnamon, giraffe or spider among others.

Co sponsoring the event are the Historian´s Office of the City of Havana, the National Network of Botanical Gardens, the National Botanic Garden and the Ecologic and Systematic Institute among others. (acn).

the weird things die as soon as they have a fly. bizarre.

Perhaps if you kept things juuust a smidge cleaner, the flies wouldn't pose such a virulent threat to the surrounding flora.

Ken, without whale carcasses to feast on, the actual fat content of the fly has diminished. We now have a fitter, leaner, Renaissance fly. The fatter flies made fishing better as they are more nutritious, fish needed to eat less and being fat, they were easier to catch. Even the "fly catching challenged" fish had a shot. This helped build bigger, albeit slower fish. They broke down waste faster due to their lazy nature and varied tastes. We had a cleaner environment with the fat fly. Composting started sooner and the resulting compost fed plants better. I mean nothing goes better with rotting whale then rotting potato! Due to atherosclerosis the fat fly did no live as long, nor did they produce as many flies, cause fat male couch flies don't like fat assed female flies.

You activist types are always screwin' around with the environment! Look at what you have done to Venus Flytrap population alone! -Piggy
