Thomas Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 What do you expect, its new york, everythings a thing and they just wait for someone to do something wrong and then pounce, the rudest unfriendist (dirtiest) place ive ever been. And Mayor Budinski, like Bostons mayor mumbles, should be worried about the drugs, crime and oppression that pollute his city, rather than taking peoples gun rights or smokes,,AND mind their own business when it comes to other cities....besides he likes the yankee's...pffft
Quint Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 My fellow lovers of the leaf,The say that in America we get the government we deserve. Those of us that live in representative republics must stop supporting and voting for politicians who make a virtue out of stripping us of our liberty for our own good. It is not enough to sit by and complain. Involve yourselves, people, or lose your rights one at a time. We must oppose every single incursion into our rights, freedoms, and liberties with calls, letters, and votes! These 'progressives' believe in governmental activism. Don't support 'em!! "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." C. S. Lewis Another hear hear Goverment has been slowly chipping away at our civil liberties for quite sometime. Just nitpicking away as to not really upset anybody. If you look back over the years at all the liberties we have lost it's amazing there hasn't be a national outcry. If it was all done at once people would be planning a revolution. Ever so slowly goverment is moving into our living rooms telling us what's good for us and what's bad for us.
Peter11216 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I agree, People who push the boundaries are the ones who seem to hurt us rather than help us, but with this sort of ban what are people supposed to do? Seems ridiculous, I doubt they will be able to keep this under control, seems more like a thorn in the side to me. Jay-walking and littering are also offenses in New York. Frankly, I'd like to see the latter enforced, but I'm guess that the no smoking ban is going to be pretty much like the jay-walking "ban".
