ChanceSchmerr Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Probably been asked before....but How does everyone here keep track of the CC's in their collection? Or do you keep track at all? I started by using that MobileStogie App for my IPod Touch, but I've not used it much lately because my Touch is dying (circular button doesn't work......$%&ing Apple!). I recently built a spreadsheet to keep track of what I have, what I like, what I want to get, etc. It's great, I finally have a tool that I can use to tabulate my smokes, and give me a current answer whenever someone asks how many CC's I have (exactly 820 as of today). What does everyone else use? Am I the only spreadsheet user out there?
BobLobLaw Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 No sir, I also use a spreadsheet. Printed out next to my main humidor. Lets me know where a specific cigar is if I am looking for it. Update it by hand as stock changes and then 2-3 times per year do a full inventory where I reorganize my humidor. My fiance thinks its crazy but as I am sure many people on here would understand its kinda fun to dig through all of your stuff a few times per year. Moving things you want to try or retry to the top and just getting an idea of what else you want.
bassman Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I don't keep track at all. More fun that way. Last month I "discovered" a box of Party D1 ELs that have been buried since release. A couple months ago a box of 02 SLR PCs. If I knew I had them, they'd be long gone.
BradNC Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Mobile Stogie works for me. I have it on my iphone and can email myself spreadsheets that it automatically sets up. I then update my laptop with that spreadsheet.
Rogers72 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I don't keep track at all but don't keep but 10 or so boxes on hand at any time.
android Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Apps, spreadsheets...not for me! Have 350-400 bx. of CC that I do rotate between two humidors. It's a Friday or Saturday date night with the girlfriend...then i have to sit and watch a chick flick with her.
Puros Y Vino Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I use Cigar Briefcase. It's freeware. http://www.vaagan.com/cigarbriefcase/
sblevit Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Oh good, I thought I was the only cigar dork with a spreadsheet of my cigar collection. I feel better now. . . I would say that it's probably 98% accurate. I'll probably do a full inventory when the Aristocrat arrives next month.

anacostiakat Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I am not too anal about tracking my cigars. I keep a spreadsheet of boxes. Where I got them, how much, count marca, box code, shipped and arrival dates. But it is just a running accounting of receivables. I dont try to calculate remaining stock or anything like that. The main thing I keep it for is the historical cost and as a reference to keep down my rooting through the humi's.
KB24 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Just created an Excel Spreadsheet that has sections - Marca, Vitola, Box Code, Month and Year, Vendor and Quantity left. These only apply to the boxes and not singles. I then did an AutoSum for the "quantity" section to give me total number of cigars (445). This makes up 27 boxes. I'm still deciding if and how to do the singles. That could take a long time to complete. -Patrick
Lotusguy Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I only keep track of them in my head. I "only" have about 50 boxes plus assorted singles, coffins, samplers, et cetera.
dochowl Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Spreadsheet inventory... most definitely. I keep a print out with my humidor and pencil updates as I take out or add cigars. Then I refresh the spreadsheet every couple of weeks. What has worked out well for me over the last few months is that I've instituted a non-inventoried singles drawer. As I hit the last 2 or 3 cigars in a box, or buy singles, fivers, etc., I throw them in that drawer (totals about 120 right now). That way I can grab a smoke without having to deal with the inventory.
laficion Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I don't need to track my cigars, I just smoke them, I know exactly where they are .......... hUmmmmmm now where did I put that Corona Gorda I just had in my hand, ........... I'm really going to have to do something about this.
bigfunkyg Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Excel Spreadsheet definately. I'm a total Excel nerd so I do all sorts of silly things with Excel. I do have a tought time of keeping it current. I have also started to use Mobile Stogie for my iPhone, which has it's positives but I haven't seen an update.....ever. I also keep a sperate sheet of boxes to buy based on refills, tried and buy, and not tried. That helps me to priortize purchases. G
Colt45 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I'm another who doesn't keep any kind of inventory.
Bartolomeo Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I use Excel, helps me remember what I like and dont like and how much I paid I cant figure out how to load a picture of it to show you BartT(M)
Dbone Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I'm another who doesn't keep any kind of inventory. Me too, I don't keep any inventory. Although I do organize
Fuzz Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I tried to attach a miniature GPS locator, like the one below, to all my cigars but found it was just too difficult. It's probably easier to put RFID tags on like a 2nd band instead and install a ring sensor around the lip of my humi. Then I can tell the contents of my humi without even looking! Every time my stock of say Des Dieux drops below a certain level, a warning can pop up to remind me to buy more!!
Babaloo Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I 'm resting about 700+ DC & only 30 CC in my fridge . I've been keeping track w/ Micro. off. word . Just checked out Excel , Thanks KB24 I'm going to need a day for that . The other half is on Holiday with my kids , so NOW is not the time . I'll wait to she gets back .If I'm not dead . lol It's kind of rough for CC right now , but my piggy bank is almost full , I'll have to make room for "Behike" & some Boliva Royal caronas.
PigFish Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I have a general idea of what cigars I have but I don't keep a tally. It is just not that important to me. I think I get a bigger kick out of finding cigars that I have forgotten about. As a side note just look at all the trouble that record keeping caused **** Nixon!
cigcars Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 *Early on I kept a listing on plain ole' blank white paper of my box purchases, the dates I got them, the number I had, and done with pencil so I could erase and update as necessary. I went to 1,404 cubans, then 1,512, etc. That was in the beginning of my new ability to finally acquire my beloved habanas. Nowadays I don't bother anymore. I just know which ones I'm going to keep in certain humidors and from where, etc. I've just recently shifted all of my collection both cuban and non with all the non's in the "other" 'dor, and the habanas all in my Daniel Marshall 150ct one now. Others will soon be coming with a VERY FEW sprinkled with n/c's!
Hugomarink Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Mobile stogie works pretty well but I'm too ADHD to keep up with it, so I don't really bother tracking my inventory anymore. I always have a pretty good idea of what I have.
thechenman Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I don't bother keeping track. What I remember I remember...the rest will just sort itself out. The exception to this is my Czar online humidor. Great inventory tracking there...
scinmyheart Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 no tracking here...it's not like I'm trying to keep up with 17,000 cigars, either I just open up my humidor door and grab a cigar
