bassman Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 A good, but not great cigar. IMHO, cutting the Inmensas was a much greater loss. To me the 2007 Inmensas are miles ahead of the 2007 BGMs.
ajgagnon Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I hope the San Cristobal line isn't being cut back... last time I was in Cuba I tried a La Fuerza (in Santiago de Cuba) and absolutely loved it. Man, was it good. I agree that some of the San Cristobals are big (maybe too big) but I'd hate to see them cut. More recently, I just about passed up some Partagas Shorts for some Principes... but defaulted back to the Shorts. When buying boxes, it's hard to lay out the money for something that is less known or perhaps less consistent than the major marcas. I guess I'm just an example of why they aren't selling. Maybe it makes sense for HSA to focus on the winners... it just hurts when they cut things that are good. I fear I may never get to try some of the greats (Partagas Connies, BGM, PLPC, etc).
in0gravity Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 The German Distributor 5thAvenue confirmed that the Bolivar Gold Medal has been discontinued. regards Lars
Trevor2118 Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 The German Distributor 5thAvenue confirmed that the Bolivar Gold Medal has been discontinued. Products discontinued without notification?........Certainly avoids the uproar that occurred a year ago. The Cubans are learning.
cigcars Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I certainly haven't seen any from 2010. Here are some real Limited Edition Boli GM http://www.complex.com/city-guide/2011/01/...t-this-thursday *Oh, Good Lord! 'Thought I was gonna SEE somethin'!
Van55 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I have to wonder what this whole saga says about the role of "rarity" or "exclusivity" in the marketablity of Cuban cigars. The German limited edition sold out very quickly, even at over $20.00 per cigar. As mentioned, I have seen sales of the regular production at $7.50 per cigar. HSA obviously learned something from the experience. Hence the plethora of regional, limited edition and LCDH only releases.
Firewiz25 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I sure hope the BGM is not being discontinued...it is a good smoke and is not horrilby priced. If this rumor turns out to be true looks like I might have to stock up.
Tarks Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 GM's are being discontinued, according to Hamlet and Abel. They are no longer being produced. Get them while you can.
lordlister Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 GM's are being discontinued, according to Hamlet and Abel. They are no longer being produced. Get them while you can. They just went from a good cigar to the best I've ever had. Refined, complex, and unlike any other cigar produced by anyone ever!
