Sutton Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Well there have been a couple threads with your best cigar for 2010 ,there has to be some tossers or serious dissapointments in there too. So same rules apply runner up and worst pick . Mine was a BHK 52, it was very plain and boring to this green horn .The runner up for me was a PS D LE. Only single trys on each so it is kinda bias but maybe I need to give them time or another shot. Game on let's here what's on your list
Cig Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I know some people are gonna hate me for it, but Partagas Serie D No 4 has been way more of a miss than a hit for me this year. Seems like the younger boxes are very inconsistant. I've almost been disappointed to the point that I won't buy them any more.
cigcars Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 *A stub of a robusto size Partagas Serie D LE. I don't mean I smoked a stub, but the cigar size was just such a nub of a robusto, which is not my chosen size anyway. I got it 'cuz the PS D LE was so recommended elsewhere. Total waste of money - like smoking empty air
OZCUBAN Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 For me it would have to be the Cohiba Siglo V1 was so looking forward to this one but in a word crap, bad burn no taste have had one before and was very nice ,for me it just highlights the inconsistency of Cuban cigars, any lover of cuban cigars know this already we just have to move on and get over it cheers OZ
mazolaman Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 For me,the Cohiba robusto. I bought a pack of three for a Christmas treat,as I do not usually buy Cohiba. So I gave one away and smoked the other two. Dull,,dull,dull.....well made, good burn,no flavour at all,no spice,no tobacco.......nowt. Preffered Rafael Gonzales panatellas extra.......
dicko Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 A diplomatico no 2 which had zero smoke volume, like it was burning but like sucking air. Non-construction problem, i had punch royal selection no 11's. didn't see what the fuss was about.
dicko Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Magnum 46. I've had a couple and all have been quite sharp & bitey. Can't understand why everyone raves about them. I prefer the Mag 50, which is much more mellow and balanced. Maybe the 46 needs more time? Hey mate how are ya? I thought you would have liked the spice factor?? Ive read a lot saying you should lay them down a bit though...
Puros Y Vino Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Monte 2s...again. I've never smoked a good one. X2. Did smoke a good one..once! However, the worst for me was the Monte Open Eagle. Newspaper soaked in tea, dried out and rolled would have tasted better.
bassman Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Folks have mentioned CoRo, Siglo VI, Mag 46, Dip#2 & D4s. All disappointments of previous years. So much that the last year I bought any of them was 2003. As for 2010, I've smoked a lot of good cigars this year. Yes, an occaisional plug or funny burn, but over all a great year. Closest to a disappointment- the BHK 52. It actually wasn't bad for a gift cigar, but if I had to pay for it, I'd certainly not pay all that for another.
mash Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 RyJ Wide Churchill. Really didn't like this, and I like the marca usually.
ckearns Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I'll add another Partagas to the list. A Series D No. 5 LE. The draw on this cigar was way too easy and made for a difficult smoke. To give an idea about its lack of resistance, it was like hauling on an empty toilet paper roll. Not nice at all.

Have smoked 2 Regattas and was not unsatisfied.
fred170 Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Cuaba Divinos...Dammm Hard Draw...Used tons of Butane on these
riderpride Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 For me it was a one-shot deal. A couple weeks ago I lit up a H. Upmann No.2, and after a few puffs the bloody thing split more than half-way up! Conditions were no different for the one I had the day before or the day after. I suppose if that's my only complaint, life ain't that bad...
thechenman Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 My biggest disappontment was in one of my staple winter cigars. the San Cristobal de La Habana El Principe from 2010 was just a major disappointment for me this year. Sad as they are on of my favorite minutos...
CanuckSARTech Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Romeo y Julieta "Wide Churchills". Airy, bland, and while well-constructed and even though I generally like the R&J profile, this vitola was a long boring smoke. Don't really have a runner-up for that puppy. Although I did have a couple of duds of miscellaneous stuff here and there. But nothing on the level of the Wide Churchill.
Wicky Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Just counted the dead soldiers, and out of 33 boxes of varying shapes, sizes and brands smoked in 2010. The most dissapointing far and away was the Cohiba Robusto. Paper thin flavor coupled with poor construction.

This cigar would be my winner in the "Most Confusing Cigar Of 2010" catagory. I smoked two of these- the first exactly as you described, the second a full bodied powerhouse.
Sutton Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 The first 2 RyJ wides I smoked where wonderful the 3rd one I had was very poor, nothing like the first 2.
