Dbone Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 It's hard enough to find time at home with the family to find time to enjoy a cigar, add below freezing weather and it's non existent. I'm not what some may call man enough to head into the frozen tundra, I get chilly. So as old man winter sets in, my cigar smoking moves inside. Most cigar smokers will admit during the smoking experience they work more efficient, with clearer thought, a sounder mind, with better decision making skills. It all just gets better with a cigar. I'm a believer that anything you do with a cigar, does indeed get better. Today I'm smoking a HQ Monte 4, courtesy of our host. The wrapper is dark and oily, great pick Rob. Aroma at cold matches that of shoe leather. I wont smoke in the office during our hours of operation, so I'll move into the garage. There's a lonely patio table I actually found in the garbage last year, it doesn't look like much but with a few added necessities it becomes my temporary command center. The Monte 4 opens with a blast of flavors. The smoke is smooth with coffee and some sweet spice. Accompanying the cigar I'm having a cup of dark roast office coffee. The coffee in my cup is closely matching the aroma's in the cigar smoke. Cream joins the finish. The lips taste salty. Of course I have to check out the FOH board. What?!? No threads with Rob & Ken bickering like a old married couple while Smithy takes calculated jabs.... off to the Hot Box forum to check out the cigar porn for about the billionth time. I'm really loving this cigar. Hey look who came into the "smoke room", my brother. He's smoking a AF Hemmingway. To busy to look at the camera, steer clear of him today!! Just kidding, we have Cuban Cigar Fridays which never comes soon enough. Time to head into the stock room and check out a couple finished products. Stock room guys ask, "What's that you're smoking today?" I tell them, "A cracker Monte 4." Cracker is not a term used here, let alone understood. I enjoy their responses. It's somewhere between, what is he talking about and trying to be nice for the holiday bonus. Make way over to loading dock and see what's gone out and what has yet to come in. The Monte 4 has definitely lost it's sharp edges. In it's beginning the coffee and cream flavors came in with a blast. Now they're still present, just not so "in your face". Lips are no longer salty. Time for me to take a gander over the shop floor. The smell of machine oil haste stained the concrete floor and steel walls. Spend to much time in here and your skin will being to take on this oder. I'm thinking to myself, "To many employees have saved up their vacation time until the year end." It's quite funny actually. In attempts to hire temporary help to fill in, the first five applicants denied the offer. Reason? Was told they didn't want to loose their unemployment. Think about that when the politicians talk of fixing unemployment. Would you want to work with a $300 per week coming in? Lucky for us, there are still people who believe in an honest day pay for an honest day work. 5 temp jobs filled. The Monte is still smoking great. The smoke is so smooth and rich in coffee and cream. The nutty sweet coffee spice is still present on the finish. I'm loving it. A quick duck back into the stock room to look at how full the outgoing shipping cart is... looking good. Maybe I'll have enough to buy a third box of these Monte 4. I'm smoking out of this HQ box and have a PSP in long term storage. I don't expect this box to last through the next couple months. I steer myself back into the garage so I can enjoy the last remains of my Monte 4. The Monte 4 is pure coffee and cream. It's smoothed out even more now and even in it's youth there's nothing harsh about this stick. The draw and construction has been perfect, flavors of coffee and cream moved from sharp to soft. The last bit turned into pure coffee. Upon exhaling a puff, the finish was matching my coffee so well it was hard to taste the coffee, just tasted warm water. Lovely. As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Time to put her to sleep. Ashes are a look into the past, from the looks of it, reflecting on the last 50 minutes I thoroughly enjoyed this cigar.
thechenman Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Very nice review of a fantastic cigar. Loved the tour of your facilities. Wish I could enjoy a cigar at work, as I'm sure it would make my far more productive to smoke a cigar than think about cigars and find myself on FoH.
El Presidente Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Sensational Review I felt I was walking through the place with a Monte 4 in my hand
adic88 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 excellent stuff. that looked like a great cigar.
mrbagel Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Smoking inside at work! wow what a great job you have.
Dbone Posted January 1, 2011 Author Posted January 1, 2011 Thank you all. I am lucky to be able to smoke at work. Just had the insurance broker make his annual visit so he could do a once over of the shop. Yes, I remembered to put the ash tray away and all evidence for that matter LOL. It still requires some cloak-and-dagger.
dicko Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Nice tour of your place, and great review of your cigar, glad it was a cracker
