I'll tell ya, I have a box of BRC that are just awful. Also, a box of Punch Punch that have been in a 3 year sick period?!? I haven't tossed them, maybe it's the optimist in me. But the thought has crossed my mind. Our host's cigars are top notch by the way, these did not come from Pres.

I'm sure some of you have had the same experience, so ever ditch the "shitty box of cigars"?

LOL, I've been meaning to post something like this...I have a few crapola boxes that are just duds, but I just can't get the kahunas to throw them out! I try them first, and if they still suck, I grab something else...

Punch Punch is one of them.

I have to say the only box right now Id do this with is a box of Punch Punch 07 seem to be getting sicker if that is even possible lol.

*No no, absolutely not. I'd just give them all away to persons who's eyes would just brighten up with joy at receiving "forbidden fruit," particularly folks who are used to making due with everything from Dutch Masters to grocery store available Cuesta-Reys.

I recently tossed around a dozen random NC singles that had been sitting for as much as 10 years in a humidor, a few were Macanudo. I needed to tidy up that humi and make some room and I knew I would never smoke them. I also recently gave away some dud MC2s to a friend who wanted to get into CCs.

Yes! Twice if I remember correctly. Once when I was a new smoker and ordered a box of dog rockets that were so foul I had to purge them from my sight.

Had another box from the dreaded '00 year. Partagas I believe that had been stored improperly and after waiting on them a few years I gave up and pitched them in a fit of dispair. :clap:

I have given away a box full of NC cigars I didn't like. I currently have an awful box of 06 PLPC's (a half, really) I bought from another BOTL that I'm afraid will never come to life. And I have two boxes of NC singles I've never even tried and I'm not sure if I ever want to. :clap:

I have not. I have only had one or two boxes that were bad enough to think about it but I just continued to smoke them periodically to see if they were getting better until they were gone.

Nice topic...needed room in the humi, so Party Aristocrats went into the trash, so much for small formats. PLPC after reading all the good things on the forum, just couldn't smoke them any longer----hay flavor for me.

Yeah, this is the road I'm going down currently. But when I can order something I know I'll enjoy, and need the space, it could end up getting ditched or as cig said hand them out.

Jfire, my bunk Punch Punch are from 07 too.

I had a box of RyJ #4's that I thought are pretty disgusting. I have a buddy that likes RyJ's and always buys fakes in mexico, so I gave him a Humi and stuffed if full of those #4's and he loves them.

Yes, but there is a process. I understand that a cigar box does not contain the same cigars. These are cigars from different rollers likely rolled on different days. Getting a bad box is then as rare as getting a perfect box.

The process: I clip all the cigars. I light them one by one to see if one of them will satisfy me. I stop on the first cigar that works or until I am out of cigars. If nothing else there is something extravagant and rewarding of seeing 15 cigars that have 1/2 inch burnt off them!!! I did not end their lives without trying! Cheers. -Piggy

Not me. If I don't like a box or some singles that I have, I just gift them to people and let them know that they didn't do it for me, but maybe they'll like them.

Gets $$$$$$$$ but its very logical. I have done that a few times.

I have never had a stick that starts bad ever get good.

I often will just quit smoking for a while at one point in anger.

Patience has usually rewarded me.

My Punch Punch '04 and '05s are just starting to come around,

while '98 and '01s are smoking really well.

Anybody who wants to dump their '07s, think of me.

I have lots of space, and lots of time!

I don't understand why anyone would chuck cigars in the garbage. Hell, put them away for decades if you have to. :rotfl:

In 40 years I've never gotten a terrible box, if there's something wrong with the box there's something wrong with where you got them.

Though I have only ten years of experience, I generally agree.

However, there are two kinds of bad;

tobacco quality and construction.

Complaints about tobacco quality are usually due to insufficient aging,

or simply a blend that does not appeal to a particular smoker;

neither is a valid reason to condemn a box.

Some boxes that were terrible (to me) in their youth, are among my favorites today.

Poor construction is another matter.

A box of ERDM Grandes de Espana, '01s if I recall, were all very tight to completely plugged.

Purchased at at a LCDH in Varadero, BTW.

The tobacco, from what I could smoke, was incredibly tasty.

Time can sometimes even open up plugged cigars;

I never tossed one of those Grandes unless I lit it up,

and the last few have smoked fairly well.

I am sure that many, or most of us have had similar experiences.
