josie67 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 *No no, absolutely not. I'd just give them all away to persons who's eyes would just brighten up with joy at receiving "forbidden fruit," particularly folks who are used to making due with everything from Dutch Masters to grocery store available Cuesta-Reys. YUP, I agree. Over the last 3 years, I have given away 4 boxes total to others who love the fact they got "forbidden fruit".
in0gravity Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Yeah, this is the road I'm going down currently. But when I can order something I know I'll enjoy, and need the space, it could end up getting ditched or as cig said hand them out.Jfire, my bunk Punch Punch are from 07 too. Now that's funny. I dumped a 07 Punch Punch as well. Boxing code was BLP JUL 07. Horrible box. Only 5 or so cigars were actually smokeable.

Jesuscookies Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Although I have stopped smoking shitty cigars half way through, I have never thrown away a box of smokes. Not even NC's for that matter. If the problem is construction, I will usually get the tools out and try to unplug. If it is taste, I will let them sit and periodically pull one out to try and see if they have improved. If they are nasty I put it out, and try another in a year or so.
ajgagnon Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I've got a box wrapped up and ready to chuck... ripoff Esplendidos bought on the street in Cuba. My fault. I actually bought four boxes of nice looking cigars, only to find that they were full of picadura. So I invited myself back into the guy's house and traded them back for two boxes of 'oja complete' cigars (full leaf), which weren't much better. Just barely garage cigars... I find they just feed my addiction without the satisfaction of smoking a beautiful Cuban puro. The wife is using them as reason for not getting more... "you already have xyz cigars..." Uh, nope. I just can't bring myself to do it though... just put them at the bottom and will use them for lawn cutting cigars next year.

Must of been a bad few months. Funny how things work out though. Just got in a used edt. of the MRN 05 copy. MRN states that Punch Punch are one the best examples of a cigar that can be ridden with tannins and acrid but many(MANY) years later be ethereal. Like I said thought about throwing them out. lol:)
CanuckSARTech Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 My last trip to Cuba, in April 2008, I bought a box of Punch Punch's for a former co-worker of mine. He wanted a box, and only really new or remembered the Punch name, but couldn't decide between Punch Punch, Black Prince, or No. 11's. Well, he ended up going against any of my recommendations (although he loved anything that I picked out for him otherwise), and he requested the box of Punch Punch. It was a BLP box, from 2007, and I can't remember precisely, but I do think it was also an October box. I have the code wrote down somewhere, but just can't find it. Anyways, he ended up giving me a few from that box as a thank you (he paid the full amount for it), and I've had one or two, with one left sitting in with my singles. They've been dreaded so far - nothing special at all. But, who knows what excess years of aging can maybe do for these - it all depends on how the blend ages.
rdb6 Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I'll take all of those boxes you are tossing away. Send them my way, I will pay the freight. Thanks.
Domino68 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I am usually "that guy" that someone gives a box to, being that I try to give every cigar a chance. However...there have been a couple of boxes (exactly two) that even I ran out of patience with and passed on to buddies who appreciated them. It has been over 15 yrs since I have done so.
