ajgagnon Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Hi all, Maybe this review should be in the 'cheap & cheerful' folder but it's in keeping with the theme of petit coronas (or is this a half corona... I can never figure out the sub-vitolas). Ok, so it was cold but not a blizzard outside for a change, and I hadn't had a cigar in about two weeks and to make a long story short I needed a cigar that was relatively quick but sure to set my nerves (wife's a new mom, not gettin any lovin...). I ended up picking up a Romeo y Julieta Coronita en Cedro from my dad's place. These are sometimes rustic little cigars, not always pretty for various reasons (wrinkly, sometimes ruddy, unkempt, or splotchy) but are hidden by this lovely roll of cedar surrounding the cigar (and which is kept together by the distinctive red RyJ band). This little cigar had loads of flavour. It was just perfect for the occasion. It was remarkable enough, in fact, that when my dog ran away at the park to hunt mice while my wife was hungry at home and the frozen mist was rising off the snow in the dark under streetlight, I was able to relish in small, rich puffs of peanut, dark chocolate (part milk... not bitter chocolate), coffee and cedar. That's probably the first time I've ever really recognized peanut that way. The night before I had watched The Good, The Bad & The Ugly and was reminded of how the image of a cigar is not necessarily related to the size of the cigar, and conversely, when you're in a moment and you need that cigar for whatever reason is pressing (think Clint giving his small cigar to 'The Ugly', saying "After a meal, there's nothing like a good cigar."), even a good small cigar fits like an old friend. Cheers, Atchbo
thechenman Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Glad to read that you got in a good smoke. I've never had the pleasure of trying one of these before, but the Cedro de Luxe 1, 2 and 3 in the RyJ line are among my favorite in this marca. They are light, but oh so delicately delicious. I find them to be great hot weather smokes during the summer.
CanuckSARTech Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Interesting, thanks Atchbo. These were one of my first cigars of introduction in the late 90's, and one of those cheaper styles that I always keep a box of in my humidor. They're toasty and balanced, obviously heavily-accented cedar tones, but I've never really noticed peanuts in them. It's been a while since I had one though - I might have to delve back in to my box of these soon enough, but will have to wait for some of our windy, wet, damp weather to break. Sounds like a nice refreshing enjoyment for you. Cheers.

brownpeter335 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I just want to say, who were experienced these striking cigars you will understand why the Romeo y Julieta brand is one of the most extensively known.
