Martindelmundo Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Sancho Panza Belicoso mar08. Pre-light. Appearance light walnut (I put in a photo next to my cigar case that is natural walnut) delicate looking wrapper with a few stitch like veins, the head is fairly loop-sided but gives a pleasant rustic look. Aroma: Spanish cedar. Just like my humidor, I don’t pick anything else up. Pre-light draw: perfect. 1/3 Like a barn yard. Sweet hay and a cream finish. Wood and the only cigar I can think of that left a sweet thick feeling on my tongue. So far sweet and creamy smoke with cedar notes. Great draw loads of smoke. I don’t find it as mild as people say. End of the first third a strong espresso flavor has become present. 2/3 Earthy sweet hay, cedar and coffee with that sweet lingering sensation, all in one puff= bliss. Towards the end of the second third the cigar has started to pick up a floral note and a heavy cream finish. Final I hate to say bitter but imagine a strong coffee bitter in a good way and it would best describe what I taste. The burn got ugly. The fragile looking wrapper kind of broke and lifted up but still great taste. Cedar and strong coffee. The ash was a real clinger, about 1 and ½ inches and I had to forcefully knock it off because I didn’t want to wear it but I have a feeling it could have held for awhile. Now at the end just wood and a nice burn on the retrohale. In conclusion it was a great smoke. 1/3 had a nice sweetness that was left in the mouth and left a thick feeling. 2/3 to the end, coffee and cedar with subtle complexities lingering thought-out. I may have committed a cigar sin but I smoked this thing until I was about to burn my lips by using a small Philips head screwdriver to impale the remaining cigar. It was very enjoyable. Burn may have been the only real issue. The wrapper burned slower than the filler but this may have been user error, I had a little work to finish up so at one point I didn’t give it all my attention. 90/100 my first Sancho Panza of many to come.
