mazolaman Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Hi All, I got a box of these about two months ago,ABR 2010. After about a month they have evened out and are now smoking really well. Nice dark wrapper, with an aroma of chocolate unlit. Flavours I get are coffee, chocolate and slight cream, getting spicey towards the end. Definitely a rich cigar, reminds me of a poor mans dip 4,being slightly less cultured. If you lay em down, they would smooth out well. really good value. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Tarks Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 A fantastic budget cigar. I smoke through a box a month of the PE's and never get bored of them. I have had a few boxes with the dark wrappers but I do prefer a lighter wrapper on them. They are much sweeter with a lighter wrapper. One box (dark wrapper) I had earlier this summer was off. I swear it was the Partagas Super Partagas boxed in a PE box. This does happen from time to time, it is Cuba!
Frinkiac7 Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 I absolutely love the Palmas Extra. IMO, the best kept secret in budget Habanos, bar none.
mazolaman Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 On My second box of these, slightly lighter wrapper, slightly sweeter. Still the same rich flavour, Great value.
bstarrs Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 I'll probably be grabbing a box of these soon due to your guys' opinions on them. Thanks for the heads up.
canadianbeaver Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I LOVE these cigars!!! And they are such a pleasure for the money. I am so tired of the argument that you have to spend $20+ every time I go to my cigar shop... and I buy these online. Recently, I bought a box to give away as a promotion for my company. I wrapped each one with a simple label I made on my mac ( I am a graphic designer by profession) 2
canadianbeaver Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Holy crap NO! If I was going to go fake on CL I would fill my empty single malt scotch bottles with Apple Juice to kids man! (the real label is under mine... great for my USA customers)
nick17 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I love the PE I was debating getting a box last week but i bought a box of PSD4 with me friend so i was able to pick those up but next time in getting a box of PE's for sure
CUBANO Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 these are great cigars, still have 5 from 2002, and they are delicious. 1
Puros Y Vino Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I had one last week. Very nice cigar and relatively cheap.
str8dog Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 So construction, draw, burn etc. are reasonable on these, being machine made/hand finished?
Puros Y Vino Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 So construction, draw, burn etc. are reasonable on these, being machine made/hand finished? Yes. They're well constructed and handmade. Mine had excellent draw and the burn was good. These were machine made up to 2002. Handmade since. See here.
redlir Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 You know for a c&c you would think that these would be more readily available. I've always been able to find boxes of these in locally in Ontario. PM me if you need a source.
str8dog Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Yes. They're well constructed and handmade. Mine had excellent draw and the burn was good. These were machine made up to 2002. Handmade since. See here. I stand corrected then. I was basing my info on the website of the B&M you were trying to get to for the bespokes yesterday, and also here ... http://www.cigars-review.org/Hoyo-de-Monte...almas-Extra.htm ... and also the disparity in pricing with other HR cigars of the same proportions. ...I'll need to check these out. Thanks.
bstarrs Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I've had my box for around two months and I've only got 5 left. These are great value for the money, too bad the Czar doesn't seem to carry them ever...
hidechen Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Bought a box dating back to 2003 with old bands and they smoked alright. Very good money for a hand made size like this!

I've never seen these aged, but would get them if I saw them. These are a mainstay everyday smoke for me.
Lotusguy Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 One of the few C&Cs I haven't tried yet - box on the way
jimschn Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I ordered a box of these last week, hope they're as good as everyone says
SIn Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I'm ordering a box of these as well; excited to try em.
Hemsworth Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I just received a box on Tuesday from a friend that went to Cuba (along with a box of ERDM Demi Tasse). The aroma was really nice. Cant wait to try em out in a few weeks.
jimschn Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Got my box and after smoking 2 it seems I've found a winner. Definitely ordering another one
jimschn Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Got 2 boxes with different codes and while both are smoking good, i prefer the darker reddish brown wrappers
Hemsworth Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I smoked one last weekend. It was...good. Not a very complex smoke. I'll try another in a few more weeks.
