I checked occasionaly, because I do get hit with the spins or nausea from time to time. Very rarely with CCs though. The only CCs to ever hit me hard were an RyJ Cazadore and a RA Celestial Fino. Both gave me the cold sweats and spins. More often than not it is the NCs that do this to me. The Padron 1926 Serie 80th Anniversary (Maduro) hits me, the La Flor Dominican Double Ligeros and the Litto Gomez Chisels. Also the My Father No. 1s from Pepin on ocassion. That is about it. I do get the feeling of nausea though at cigar gatherings that arent' well ventilated. Been to some where the cigar smoke in the air was so thick you could barely see your hand two feet away from your face. Those situations get to me as well.

*You make me reminisce about Peter Weller's (Robocop) statements about when he visited Cuba and was given priceless cigar after cigar by persons he came upon while he was out in the fields and open lands away from any place where he could get liquid refreshments behind them, yet he smoked each one - again 'cuz they were priceless Romeo & Julieta's, rare Monte Cristos, etc. He could only say that his mouth was "cauterized"!

Smoked my first cigar in 1976. The only time I ever had the "spins" was last new years eve. Of course, the fact that it was new years eve may have had something to do with it. I'm not sure, but I think it was an Opus X that did it to me.

It had to have been the OpusX - an appallingly ghastly cigar! :thumbsdwn:

You know, I have to agree with you. I just don't care for the Opus X. I always keep a handful in the humidor, just to give to someone who, per chance enjoys them.

I've only smoked a few of them over the years, I just don't get the hype. Haven't smoked one since.

Please feel free to send all your Opus X to me. I find it to be a phenomenal cigar with some years on it. On of my favorite NCs...

If I had any left, I'd gladly give them to you! As it turned out, a few years ago, I "gifted" the couple of sticks I still had to a Cuban cigar smoking buddy. I almost lost a friend - he thought I was insulting him!!

Thanks for the offer Aficianado, but seriously no need. I was just joking. Not about being an Opus X fan, that part is true, but I've got more than an ample supply of them. Appreciate the offer though.

Do you think it's Just the Nicotine or the Nicotine + Tar + etc that gives the buzz then nausea?

Very Rarely happens to me but then I have learnt not to:

- smoke big cigars on an empty stomach

- smoke big and strong cigars (especially young ones) without a drink

- inhale ...

- play golf/cricket/pingpong shots or laugh with cigar in mouth :)

- smoke straight after playing a full sports game

- smoke big non-cuban (esp. nicaraguan) cigars. not sure if it's not just the pukey flavour that gets me with most of these power-mongrels.
