jackohalloran Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Most people are familiar with the term man cave, but if you aren’t im talking about that one place in the house that is not full of women’s stuff (clothes, shoes, etc.) or kid’s toys. This is a place where men and can enjoy a decent cigar with his mates. So where is your Man cave? and how important is it to you? Say how your man cave makes makes it your area, and if you have it decked out in the finest Mahogany, leather couches and flat screen Tvs throw up a pic
#2 man Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I'd love to say that I did but I don't have one. I enjoy mine under the stars by the pool or in the garage if weather is bad which is fine with me as I prefer smoking with lots of fresh air I do however have an entire room just for my cigars and related items
ColKurtz Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Sitting in mine now enjoying a Party Short A little 30x80' we built in the back field to keep our stuff out of the mud: with a 30'x30' climate controlled play room, and 30'x50 junk storage. Very much worth the investment - for matrimonial harmony if nothing else. Edit to say, we host a Thursday night herf for friends. If you're ever in Eastern NC on a Thursday drop me a line. Cheers!

bolivr Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 It's a little cozy but there is room for a chair or two. Main advantage is that the distance from the house is great enough to avoid unnecessary domestic contact but close enough for the wi-fi to reach
jackohalloran Posted October 23, 2010 Author Posted October 23, 2010 Some nice looking Man caves there I forgot to throw up some pics of my own Man Cave... so here they are

CanuckSARTech Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 *A hem A-HEM...as one of the I guess few women onboard this channel - I'm happy to say my whole world is a "Man/Girl Cave"!!! Awwww, Cig - you're one of the guys, now! Hell, for how many times people have mistaken you for not being the fairer gender (myself included), it's sometimes hard for newbies to know we have some real classy ladies taking part in the Forum and in the enjoyment of the leaf. Good on ya! (An aside - just recently read what I believe is your book, IIRC. Great read.)
CanuckSARTech Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Guy - what a lovely setup. I wish my wife was that accomodating!!! And, that's quite the collection of what I presume to be empty boxes. If they're not empty, and are instead full, then two questions: firstly, what's your humidity and storage conditions like; and then secondly, how the hell big is your cigar budget?!!?!?!!
B.HOBS Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I wish I could have a man cave! Those are some superb looking spaces fellas!! All I have is a 6' by 10' covered patio. It works, but not as awesome!

Not big n-nuff
Havanaaddict Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Here is my lounge!!! I converted the formal living room, ventilation system 1150 CFM, Murphy bed for guest, 36" flat screen with suround sound speakers installed into the wall and ceiling. Xbox, Wii, Playstation and wi-fi for laptop. Table in-between the chairs is stocked with plenty of rum!!!
Martindelmundo Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 You gents have some nice man caves. I have something a bit more modest. It's about 3 x 3.5 meters so about 10 x 12 feet. Just came into function about 2 weeks ago. Has its own bathroom and it's in the middle of my apartment about 12 meters away from the bed rooms. I put a shelf below a window and a fan the blows like a hurricane to expell the smoke. I converted a small room into a studio so it gives me a place away and the best thing is that you can't smell the smoke (the only reason my wife doesn't care). But now that I have it I can't do with out. Beats smoking outside when it's cold, kids and wife leave me to myself and I just really enjoy it.
DGuterman Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 So here's my predicament: I'm building a new house, and ensuring that the basement is a competent man cave is on the top of my priorities. The way the basement works, there are windows at the top of the walls and a sliding glass door that lets out to the backyard. I believe that if i put a box fan in the window and crack the sliding glass door that should create an air flow that will pull the smoke out of the room. How are you guys dealing with the issue of ventilation? Do you think my idea is going to be enough to handle the issue of venting the room out?
Martindelmundo Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 How are you guys dealing with the issue of ventilation? Do you think my idea is going to be enough to handle the issue of venting the room out? I have about 120 sq. feet for my room and about 48 sq. foot for a bathroom, they both have small windows but in the main room I put a pretty powerful fan on a shelf and it sucks the smoke out really well as long as I have the bathroom window open. It makes a suction aiming the fan out the main window and the bathroom window brings in fresh air. The rest of my apartment is a little more than 2400 sq. feet and It has no smell what so every. My wifes studio is about 8 meters away and she hates cigar smoke and can't smell it a bit. I think it has a lot to do with the size. small room no problem with a fan. But i think in a large area you might need something a bit heavier. Then again i'm no expert. Good luck. Martin

Got it from an instructor friend a bit ago, along with "Lessons from a Gang Cop". Both great reads, and beneficial to the mindset for sure.

THANK you kindly for your interest and perusal...now you know who I am and there's my picture on the back cover. And yes I don't advertise that info too much on this site...as I'm sure you can see how conservative some of our brothers of the leaf are here. Thank you, dear heart. You REALLY made my evening!
