For our Brisbane members keep the afternoon/evening of Tuesday the 23rd of November aside as we are planning an event featuring cigar roller Ramses Pantoya Herrera

Ramses has been here before and is an excellent roller who works in the Partagas factory supervising master rollers rolling figurados and specialty items.

We will be shooting a video with Ramses discussing his life as a cigar roller and the ins and outs of life in the Partagas factory and industry in general. We will also be doing a series of interesting cigar experiments utilizing his skills.

If there are any questions you would like us to pose, any experiments you would like to see, just put the the request on this thread and we will do our utmost to accommodate taking into account time restraints and "political" practicalities.

Looking forward to it :cigar:

what king of experiments will he be doing?

Changing wrappers on cigars (general production cigars)....maybe take a Maduro 5 wrapper and place on a Cohiba Robusto and Vice Versa.

Take 2 identical blend cigars rolled before us and store one at 70 RH for a week and the other at 60 RH for a week and do a taste comparison.

etc etc.

A couple off the top of my head:

What's his favorite size to roll overall.

If he smokes, what's his favorite size to roll for himself, and how does he like to blend it.

I'd love to see a wrapper swap of two cigars that are pretty far apart in terms of flavor profile. Maybe an Hoyo Epicure 1 and a Bolivar Corona Extra, or an LGC Medaille d'or no. 2 and a Partagas 898, or a Sancho Panza Non-Plus and a Cohiba Siglo II. Basically just choose two cigars that are as far apart as you can get flavorwise within a particular a size.

Rob, didn't Yasmel do that for you 2 years ago? I'm pretty sure I remember you swapping the wrappers on the Siglo VI / Genios and Robusto / Magicos.

Can we replicate the results?

Can we transfer to concept to others?

Can you bloody fly up for the piss up and be part of the filming?

I'd put in a leave form in a heartbeat if my boss didn't tell me on Monday they're planning on flying me out to NZ every freaking Wed in November!!

If I can wiggle out of it, I'm on my way!

Don't be soft Fuzz :D you can fly to NZ from Brisbane and I will drive you to the airport if you want

I would love to have you here ;)

Wish I could Lisa. Not only am I flying out on Wed, but that Tue is the last day of my 8 week training course. The gods keep conspiring against me.

How about picking your least favourite cigar and replacing the wrapper with your favourite cigar?

HEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

There is no way in hell that I would allow the sacrilege of having a beautiful Cohiba Robusto / Trinidad Robustos T wrapper to be placed on the nastiness that is a Guantanamera.

Dear gawd - have you gone crazy?!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!??

;):D

Can't wait to watch the video and hear about the event. Anxious to see the results of the experiments. Jealous of those who will be in attendance.

This sounds like a great event Rob has arranged. If it was possible for me to attend I sure would.

I would be interested to hear Ramses take on how the size of a cigar effects it's flavor. Larger ring cigars have greater filler to wrapper ratio, where smaller ring gauge cigars have greater wrapper to filler ratio. So how do these variances effect flavor?

Personally, I tend to favor the smaller ring cigars. I have a difficult time explaining myself on this but I feel there's more flavor. Or more of a particular flavor that I enjoy which may not be found on large ring cigars. Wow, have fun guys!!!

Going to be a big one by the looks of it - maybe you can leave the car at mine and crash in the spare room. I think the beer & wine will be flowing freely mate! :peace:

sounds good

Ramses is a great guy!

I've met him in Beijing several times when he was at Cohiba Atmosphere.

And you know what?

He will be in Phnom Penh - Cambodia for the Grand Opening of LCDH PP in December :)!
