There are few things I am an expert in but general booze is up there :cigar:

like anything, I find it important to really test out my theories. I have tested this one thoroughly.

Hendrick's Gin

Long Slice of Cucumber

Tonic and Ice.

I find Hendrick's works the best as it is infused with cucumber in the making process.

Stunning drink. No hard edges, slightly sweet and pairs with a cigar like a dream

Nice. I'll have to see if I can find that here up in the great white north ( it's 39 with the humidex though lol)

I've been sticking to scotch lately... mostly Dalwhinnie... it's a tad expensive but man does it go well with cigars!

I have to agree with Rob here. After thorough testing of about 5+of these Gin and Tonic each in the recent Sydney gathering , they are a great pairing to cigars. I think I prefer this to red wines and cigars.

Ditto. Quite a nice refreshing drink.

Jase, start stocking up on gin & tonic for our Friday night cigar sessions.

Can ondo agree, hendricksgin with tonic and cucumber is excellent, here is a good mixture that I use

http://www.hendricksgin.com/#/gl/treasury/..._with_cucumber/

Three other that pair perfect with cigars are

Horse's Neck

sugar cube, dash Angostura bitter on it and crush,

4.0 cl Brandy, pour it on the sugar cube

11.0 cl Ginger Ale, fill up

Garnish with a long lemon peel

Drinkslog_HorsesNeck.jpg

old fashioned

but this one I dont drink anymore because of the TV series Mad men, but its really really good

old20fashioned.jpg

Horse's Neck nr 4 (i am drunk and want something fast...)

Now another excellent "fake" drink which resemble Horse's Neck and old fashioned is

4 cl of whiskey (something dissent)

Ginger ale

Ice

if you'll recall our video gin tasting, hendricks came out on top i believe.

While I love GT, to my taste buds it is the absolut worst drink I can have with a cigar! :hole: For me, the juniper and bitterness of the tonic just kills anything the cigar has to offer, even if you add lemon or lime to the drink. ;)

To me, GT and cigars are best consumed in total isolation from each other. Somehow I doubt putting a cucumber in the mix will change this :)

Right on!!! ;)

I am a BIG Hendrick's fan, particularly with Tonic, but I never ever thought of pairing it with a cigar. And just in time, a buddy of mine is coming over tonight to burn one with me . . . I know what drinks we'll be mixing.

I'll also note that one of my favorite summer drinks has become Bulleit Bourbon with Tonic, known as a BLT (since you also include a slice of lemon). Here's the best recipe I've found:

1 1/2 oz (4.5 cl) Bulleit Bourbon

3 oz (9 cl) Tonic Water

Juice of one quarter ripe Lemon

Obviously, if you have a favorite bourbon, you can substitute. Bulleit happens to be my favorite for this drink, and for Manhattans.

Cheers!

I don't think I actually put that in on the video review, although I may be wrong.

sounds great, will have to try out soon. On a side note, i've recently rediscovered El Dorado 15 yr old rum. its made with demera sugar. Outstanding straight, no ice and pairs well with every cigar ive smoked with it.

Funny timing, its been my drink of choice this summer here in NC

Gin has the Rose petal flavors and the cucumber is a must to complete the drink

Good stuff!

Saw it in the P1 review! Gotta try it some day. The cucumber makes sense although it looks a little weird floating in the drink :cigar:

I like to stick with just a good cold super dark beer goes well with any cigar

Hendricks plus Tonic is not bad with a cigar. I too enjoy that combination. If you are into gin you have to try the Tanqueray No 10. To me this is the best gin out there, just smooth and refreshing. It matches also very well with a cigar. Can only recommend it.

I must give that a go Prez. I am a big Gordon's fan though

For those who are enjoying Hendrick's, I might also recommend Aviation gin. It's a bit more floral in character, but has the same "softness" and overall smoothness that Hendrick's has.

And I'll share a martini recipe I've been using lately, to great acclaim:

3 parts Tito's Handmade Vodka

1/2 part Tanqueray Rangpur

Tiny bit of Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth (I use half a cap for a two martini portion)

Dash Fee Brothers Orange Bitters

Shake in a martini shaker with ice

Strain into chilled martini glass

garnish with Lemon twist

repeat as necessary

It's unorthodox as hell, but it's tasty.
