Today marks my 1 year anniversary on FOH and roughly 1 year anniversary smoking cigars. I got into smoking Cuban Cigars after purchasing some fake CoRo's from a guy in Miami, no joke :D, and wanting to learn more about the difference between a Cuban and Non-Cuban. I quit cigs last August, only smoked them when I drank and moved to cigars. Long story short, here we are 12 months later and I am still in love with CC’s! Things I have learned in the last 12 months:

-Each cigar is different, no two are the same, even in the same box

-Cigars are expensive and last for 3 hours at most……I use to spend $1800 on a Tour driver club that would last me 2-3 years, I spent $250 on a box of cigars that would last me 30 days…go figure

-Once you have ideal storage conditions set up, the rest is easy…….I am an anal person when it came to my boxes of cigars and figured if I was going to spend the money on them, I might as well treat them right

-99% of the girls I know don’t care for the smell of a cigar, but that’s OK, its not about them sometimes, its about me enjoying time alone smoking cigars or smoking with buddies

-NC are made better than CC most of the time……CC taste better/different than NC 100% of the time……..case closed

-“It’s Cuba”……….this statement has covered numerous odd things I have come across with regards to CC

-Where you buy your CC matters…..Czar is the best store to buy them from, best customer service(Lisa/Rob) and hand picked, you tell me another store that does this?………I have purchased numerous boxes from Czar and have recommended dozens of new smokers to Czar…….Also believe the FOH is the best website for CC information/friends and overall Cuban happenings………glad to be a member

-There have been some great RE/EL cigars released IMHO but I am done chasing them……too expensive for my tastes and too many other regular production cigars to keep me happy……..but there are some good ones out there ;)

-Friends I have made on FOH such as Piggy, Rochestermayo, MBrody, Yogi, Stargazer14, Mr. Japan, Craigos, Coloniales, Trevor, Compitaveggie, Skindiver, Michaels, BonVivant, Tarks, Starrdog, JPippy, Kmax, DeadMule, MiamiPadronSmoker, thechenman, ChanceSchmerr, Arrow11………I know I have left off names and I apologize in advance, sorry

-At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what brand, size or year of the cigar your smoking, as long as you enjoy it, that’s all that matters

-Thin gauge cigars have more flavor than larger ring gauge cigars………that being said, I prefer Robustos, Corona Gorda, Piramides

-Newbies need to try singles, buy 3 of each and let them rest 30 days before touching/reviewing/smoking any of them

-I have learned a lot about cigars and have a lot more to learn

-I think bombs are stupid………but I think sharing some cigars with some friends not expecting anything in return is a good practice

-Telling someone they have fake cigars is different than telling them if they ask your opinion about them

Will add more later :o

I am gonna' add one to your list amigo. You will find after being around cigar boards awhile that the topics can get monotonous. It is the people, the members that bring you back. The friends that you make here can last you a lifetime... and while that sound cliché I can assure you that it is fact. I know sometimes I want to say... "dude... that is really stupid!!!" and then I remember that I was new to this once too. It is new blood, the new member or new friend that keeps you going in the community when the cigars are routine, habitual or commonplace. While we meet here for the love of cigars initially, it is the love of our friends that keeps us here. It is the acceptance and guidance of the newer member that keeps the place alive when all the questions have been answered and opinions proffered a hundred times! I have mets some good mates on this forum, and wish to thank our host and other members for the pleasure.

It has been my pleasure to share your journey, our cigars, good conversation and our friendship. -Ray

Bart...Happy Anniversary buddy. Congrats on one year. This is another great post/thread of yours, and with the insight you provided should be listed as one of the classics! Like Mike says, I'm glad that I met you here, and if we ever get the chance, would love to sit down and have some cigars with you.

Awesome Bart.

I was slightly unaware that you had only been into CC's for a year or so, especially when perusing through your "Bart's Cuban Collection" thread, and your Vinotemp thread. Man, if you've only been at it for a year - freeze the credit cards in ice, as it appears Rob has you hook, line, and sinker!!! ;)

All in jest.

Congrats on things so far, and here's to many more. Cheers.
