LeafLover Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Today is Friday the 13th. Already had a hell of a day with the clients and the staff. Left the day early to prevent any further harm to myself. Family is home and safe. What else can go wrong? Thinking..thinking....check the cigars! Checking the desktops, all is well. Humdiity..check...Temp...check. Go to the main stock in the wine fridge. Condensation on the bottom of the fridge!!! The Mag 46 SLB suffer some water contact on its underside. Looks like the problem just started. Fortunately, there is no water intrusion in the box. Cleaned the water and placed a rag in back bottom of fridge until I figure something out. WHO SAYS IT DOESN'T PAY TO BE SUPERSTITIOUS! P.S. Attached is a pic of the babies I saved today and putting them back in their beds.

LeafLover Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 Wicky, funny you should say dump the RASS. I've been giving them away here and there. That box is on my chopping block.
Leopolis Semper Fidelis Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Hey, what's wrong with RASS? Maybe recent boxes have been mediocre, but I had some great ones a decade or so ago.
LeafLover Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 Would love to have had a box from a decade ago. My luck of the draw as this box lacks some flavor IMO.

investandprosper Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 You need a bigger fridge for all of those! I have all my beads in a bowl in the bottom, and I route the condensation from the fan into the bowl, which recycles the moisture. Try that, you won't ever have to worry about your cigars again.
bob25 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Putting the boxes at the bottom is a serious risk because of the dropping watter from the fan. I also put my beads in a bowl at the bottom, just need to think of a way to reroute the dropping watter to beads.
CanuckSARTech Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Yeah, I would almost use one of those cooking racks to keep stuff off the bottom there. I've seen them before, all stainless steel (no worries with moisture, doesn't add/take away flavours, no water wicking onto the boxes, etc.), and I've seen both round and smaller rectangle versions. They're mostly used for in a casserole dish, to do a roast or something, and slightly elevate it out of the drippings. They elevate things by about 1/2" to 3/4" or so, and two of the smaller rectangle-shaped ones should work perfectly for you on the bottom in that space.
ammarhaider01 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I actually use a wire rack, the one also used in ovens and cookers, to make a 2 storey coolidor, the large container of saturated floral foam in the middle of the coolidor, and around it several boxes, and ABOVE it another row of several boxes, so the moisture flows around without actually touching anything to the degree of actual condensation

I cut a long piece of plastic folder (like the type your kids would use to put their reports in), and taped that to the area just under the fan. It routs the water nicely right into the bowl in the bottom. Just a temporary, quick job for now. Here's a pic:

Gotta go let the babies in the bottom fridge sleep over at my brother's humi to make room on the bottom of the fridge. My other desktops are full. Gonna try to MacGyver something like you did in the fridge when there is room. Mahalo brah, LL
