May have sniffed up a Savinelli Teak humidor for a decent price.

Now Im having second thoughts, considering the whole humidor is made out of teak wood. Is this a material suitable for cigar storage?

Would love to get some advice if I should go for it or pass!

Heres a picture of the humi in question from Savinellis site: http://www.savinelli.it/jsp-savinelli/eng/...tocategoria=Tek

My only experience with teak has been with outdoor furniture and boat trim. I've found it to be non aromatic and very good in handling moisture.

From that perspective, it seems it would make for a good humidor - but I'm no expert.

I'd stick with spanish cedar myself.. as well as one that is not just spanish cedar lined as those are usually poor quality..When it comes to humidors get a good one...

I never knew Savinelli made humidors for cigars, I know they make pipes and accessories...?

Yeah, they make quite nice ones actually. Handmade premium but not nearly as expensive as Davidoffs and Elie Bleu.

I got an urge to get rid of my cheap 60$ desktop and replace it with something better working and better looking. The Savinellis atleast is in my price range. I missed the train on this particular one but after all I got an 30-birthday coming up this winter... :D

Would love to hear someone with experience from this particular brand when it comes to humidors! Im still going through my options and appreciate all the input available.

If you dont mind mkz, should you purchase one, let me know it it is and I too may purchase one.

I'll keep an eye on this thread. ;)

Good luck.

Strange I haven't heard of these before, but I am a new guy! Have you emailed the retailer and ask them about the wood and how it would compare to Spanish cedar as a standard? It'd be interesting to hear what they say.
