Philc2001 Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 I've got a number of tubos, including 1997 and 2001 Punch Monarcas, 2008 Partagas P2, and some RyJ #3, and none of them have any mold. I have never stored them with caps off or taken them out of tubes, but I guess I've been lucky. I don't have a recommendation either way, but this has obviously worked for me.

hughness Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Saw some moldy look on vigia tubos. I guess cap on makes humidity trapped potentially causing molds. It is what it is - hugh 1
Smoking Ninja Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I do have quite a few H-Upmann Mag 46 tubos from 08. None of them has mold last time I checked. A month ago I smoked one and it was so amazing that I believed it was one of the best cigars I have ever smoked in my life. My question is, would those tubos age better than the ones in the cab since each tubo has cedar in it? I still have 23 tubos from 2008 and I am saving them for special occasions now!!
Bohn007 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Ordered the Cohiba Piramides Extra tubos from our host a couple of weeks ago. As the debate is ongoing, haven't decided what to do with them once they arrive
Bohn007 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Saw this on CA http://www.cigaraficionado.com/webfeatures/show/id/Tube-Storage-17793

Just opened a box of tubos from Isla Cuba. Some of the caps not on straight, one in the box... Box was unopened by the way... More Cuban quality control. Oh, and light mold on 5 or 6 of the sticks. Sealing up the Cuban climate in a tubed cigar is just a bad idea. Maybe when you have a taste for Acid, Macanudos and the rest, this factory sealing stuff is accurate, but why take the risk? When you go though the trouble of setting up and maintaining proper storage, why would you trust the climate of time of packaging? -Piggy 1
