LeafLover Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Neither, but I'll try if there is more reviews on it.
mash Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 1 box each of late 90's NP and Coronas. Solid if not unexciting, good construction. Have a newer box of the Belis that I really like.
el.barbudo Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I have a box each of Beli (Jun07), Corona (Jul01), Molinos (Mar06), and Non-Plus (Mar08). Salty and no big burn problems so far....
Guest rob Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 ...salty tobacco. ... This is one of the flavours I detect, that most turns me off the marque.
el.barbudo Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I believe that they are salty because Sanchos are only rolled in the late afternoon. By that time the inner thighs of all those virgins have a nice sheen of sweat which is transferred to the tobacco. Maybe Rob can confirm this.... I guess it could be either sweat or something else....
cigcars Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 *Have purchased numerous boxes of Bolivars, both Belicoso Finos & Gigantes. Have had, I'm sure a few counters get in the mix, as well. Got Tubos Bolivars and my tobacconist who I shared one with was HIGHLY impressed with its strength. The Sancho Panzas, both Sancho & Belicosos have been routinely OK to bordering on bland for the most part.
sje Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I purchased a box of Sanchos from 98. I should have bought some Monte A's instead. In that case do you want mine
Kangaroo495 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Box - no (I only got my wine fridge humi up and running a couple of months ago, so definitely intending to buy a box Singles - yes, many. Especially Belicosos. When on, they are one of my top 5 cigars.
Alberto_Magnus Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 No on both questions. Don't know why I never felt attracted by the marca. But I have been gifted an outstanding Corona Gigante from 1998 which was excellent. And I have another CG from 2001 in the humidor. Those I like and I'd buy a box for sure!!
Aficionado Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 One box coronas 01 from the vintage program, and few times singles.
rusty Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 first ever box of cubans was the non-plus.. have fond memories haven't tired them recently though
PADDYWHACK121272 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 no and no...but would try a few singles just to see...am i missing anything?...
StumpyJoe Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I've never purchased a box. I have tried two beli's when I ordered the pirimade/beli sampler pack. I recall liking them...earthy...but I was more impressed with some of the others. Maybe a box of the beli's in the future but I couldn't say when.
Leopolis Semper Fidelis Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I bought boxes of Belicosos, Coronas Gigantes, and Sanchos from the mid-1980's to the mid-1990's. The Bs were pleasant, medium-bodied smokes and all consistent in their draw. The first box of CGs was much the same, but the second, terribly bland. All the Ss have been nice enough, but not in the same class as the Montecristo A. I've had singles of the Molinos: these were middle-of-the road Lonsdales (I've come across better brands in this size, but also worse ones). Overall, I'd rate Sancho Panza as fairly unremarkable; certainly not as a great marca.
Rogers72 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I am kinda just getting into the line. I've bought probably 15 singles and a box of Molinos in the past 6 months. I am REALLY digging everything that I have had so far.
typeapositive Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Box of Sanchos `00, singles of Belicosos. The Belicosos were good, the only Sancho I`ve tried was plugged.... Is the marca getting the axe????
sandholm Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Never bought a box, but i have smooked some singles Belicosos - I remember it as beeing very strong/full body, had it more then once, less then five... Coronas Gigantes - Smooked several (still have of these in the humidor), quite liked it, but there are better once, not as strong as the Belicosos Molinos - I still have some of these, but i never reach for them, remember them as rather full body Sanchos - Still have two, bought five, i think two was to tight to smooke and one was ok. Will i buy some more, probably not, to many other really good brands. I also dont like the band, to similar to Montecristo.
qman22 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I tried a non plus once. I remember thinking it was a pleasant smoke, but it didn't have me running out to buy a box
thechenman Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Haven't made any box purchases of Sancho Panzo, at least none that I recall. I have smoked the entire line except for the Bachilleres. Sanchos are nice, I prefer the Montecristo A, but still enjoy a Sancho from time to time. Love the Belicosos. Great cigar IMHO. The rest of the marca, I don't really care for.
bassman Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Not a fan of the sancho line EXCEPT the Coronas Gigantes & I purchased several boxes (10 per box) when they were discontinued. While I haven't bought any singles, I've been gifted singles of pretty much all the others & except for the CGs, just don't like them.
habone Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I just got my 1st box of the non plus...not to excited after reading all the posts...oh well, I'm still a very inexperieced cigar smoker. I'm still experimenting with different brands trying to find what I like.
finecigar Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 In my personal opinion, I've never had a terrible one but never an amazing either. They are good for the value but nothing I would be buying in excessive amounts. They are a 7 out of 10.
riderpride Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 No on the box. I bought a single beli a couple years back and I recall liking it enought to put it on the 'to buy' list; for some reason it keeps getting bumped down my list of priorities...
El Presidente Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 The poll reflects the problem with Sancho Panza. Keep in mind this forum is skewed by a passionate Cuban Cigar Community. Even then the high proportion of people who have voted NO in both categories is alarming. The Sancho Panza brand is in need of regeneration through a combination of revised packaging and a new release (I would suggest a Robusto). Yes...I know...greater consistency would help as well but that could be applied other marques as well. The question is, if a new SP Robusto was launched, let's say in a good looking black dress box (10's) + new band with a blend which reflected the best the brand had to offer (medium bodied, flower, earth, cream, salt ) would it sell? Would you punt a few million in a relaunch if you were HSA marketing or would you continue to focus and punt on new releases in the heavy hitters of Cohiba, Monte & Partagas? You have 2 million to invest. You have the final vote. Cast it
Guest rob Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 You have 2 million to invest. You have the final vote. Cast it No chance. What would be the point? As far as ROI... I could alternatively invest $2M in a special release heavy hitter or new vitola in a more popular brand - a regular production Cohiba Piramide for instance - and KNOW it was going to pay me back.
