to be fair though, i was recently sacked from a long term (unpaid) position on the annual masterclass committee for the brisbane event for sticking up for workers' rights.

i held my ground and insisted that if they didn't relent, they could find someone else. they refused and so i'm no longer on the committee.

bastards revoked my parking space which was the only thing that they gave members of the committee for a year of boring meetings and a weekend of standing on the door and directing the rabble etc. i refused to buckle.

the workers, united, will never be defeated!!!

Marx would be rolling over in his grave. I don't envision 'car park spaces" as being a core part of his manifesto

Still...keep up the good fight Ken. The masses in South America, Africa and Asia are behind you in your inalienable right to park your BMW for free :)

it wasn't the car park as such but my deep commitment to workers' rights that had been transgressed. i felt i had to make a stand even if it cost me personally. sacrifices must be made to maintain the struggle.

okay, it really was the car park. bugger them. they don't pay us (and fair enough, i was happy to do it), expect us to be at their beck and call and spend inexorable hours in excruitiatingly boring meetings that were nothing but a waste of time as well as man the doors for the weekend of the event - this being a commercial venture for them - and then had the hide to revoke the parking space. the only tiny perk we got.

not only that, i had a running battle with the head of it for the entire decade that i would not be then spending the saturday night at some boring post function but instead would be going to the wallabies rugby test which always clashed.

and i might have dubbed the head of it, adolf, which stuck and which she apparently didn't consider to be a term of endearment.

the people's flag is deepest pink....

Apologies Ken. I am with you. Doormen should be paid!

it is the one thing that terrifies him. the threat of that thread stops him posting complete lies about (sometimes).

A stunning Boli Corona Gicante at a small herf - second from the box. The first was hopelessly plugged so I was a little concerned but this one was spectacular from beginning to end. Rich, smooth, dark chocolate and black coffee with earthy undertones. Voluminous smoke, beautiful wrapper and a great burn. Why can't they all be this good?

Also a boli CG for me. had a good run this month, 1 dud, and the rest good to great

For me a Ramon Allones SCC, a humble little smoke which delivered well beyond expectation

Cohiba Siglo VI....don't know the box date, got it in a sampler from the Czar last year. Great smoke!

Difficult pick, this. I have to go with the Partagas SdC No. 1 -06. Absolutely magnificent cigar, a real treat!

A Monte Edmundo OPA JUN09 - from Czar Mix + Match Sampler, simply divine !

Hanging out to try a Trinidad Robusto T that I picked up with the sampler - maybe it will be my June cigar - will keep you posted.

I will depart slightly from the norm, let me explain. I like the grassy flavors as a change of pace. In that regard, I enjoyed a MEL Jun 08 Lancero that showed the classic Cohiba grass, though not all the cigars in the box have showed this; and the Sancho Beli, and its marque's grassy flavors -- different but very enjoyable.

I see this as some evidence that havanas are reclaiming their fidelity to the marque's profile. Hooray!

For me it was a Partagas D5 EL 2008.

This is a cigar that showed strength that normally would be too much 'in your face' for my own liking however I found great respect for this and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

It had a beautiful pre-lit aroma and once fired up, varied tastes of spice, wood, honey and chocolate flavors throughout the entire cigar and whilst the strength intensified and developed, it remained smooth and sweet the entire time which is why I enjoyed this cigar.

The PD5 EL had loads of heavy, thick, chewy smoke with a sweet and spicy/salt taste lingering on the lips. I could have eaten this cigar like a chocolate bar!

As such, this is my favourite for May. :waving:

From Cuba, B) Surprisingly, we have a similar experience.

From onther land it's Fuente Sungrown Magnum R 54

R52/R54/R56 This reminds me of something :)
