Fuzz Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 as these seem to be the cheapest cigars on the market for me, anyone have any opinions are they worth it? or at least are they a decent smoke?cheers guys, I've smoked a few, and to be completely honest, I wouldn't bother. Not bad, but not great either. Way better than smoking a cig though.
Wil Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Had an Upmann Purito last week. From that one experience, I'd say no.
matt14 Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Had an Upmann Purito last week. From that one experience, I'd say no. Partagas chicos are a good 10min smoke
JoshMP Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Mini cigarillos I'd say no. Some of the Club/Purito/Chico cigars can be okay. But for me you're not getting a real experience out of them. It's almost like smoking through habit rather than enjoyment. They are cheap for a reason.
Wil Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 But for me you're not getting a real experience out of them. It's almost like smoking through habit rather than enjoyment. Exactly.
bolivr Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I find them to be intense little fellows. Easy to smoke too hot. You just need to sip them, certainly not take a big long herf. Punch Cigarritos they were. The problem seems to be that if you only have time for a small smoke like this then smoking one might make you resolve to make time for a proper smoke!
BobLobLaw Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Absolutely worth it. My girlfriend likes to sample my cigars and I appreciate her at least pretending to take an interest. Plus I have noticed that she (and most women) seem to have very good senses of smell. Back on point, I bought a tin of Cohiba minis for when she wants her own. Perfect size and keeps her from burning a half inch of a PC before calling it quits!
MontrealRon Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 There are actually three different sizes of Cuban cigarillos : the tiny Minis, the mid-sized Clubs, and the Puritos/Chicos. I'm afraid to light a mini for fear of setting my beard on fire! The clubs are not much better for me. I do, though, smoke lots of the puritos, which, though small, are, IMHO, cigars. For a 15 minute work break, there is no real alternative, and I find them to be both tasty and satisfying. These days I am alternating between Party Chicos, three year olds and fresh; same with Monty Puritos; and my last few three year old H. Upmann Puritos. For me, they are well worth their price.
thechenman Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 My experience with these are limited to the Partagas Chicos. While I don't think they give me a true cigar experience, they do serve a purpose. I think that can be said for the smaller cigarillos as well. Try them out if you are curious, they are fairly inexpensive.
Professor Twain Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I have had great experiences with the Club sized cigarillos. The Cohiba, Monte, and Partagas Clubs are nice smokes, very distinctively a part of their marcas. The minis are a cut below, but still enjoyable. Recently Cohiba came out with some distinctive packaging for minis, I found a five pack of tins (that hold 10 apiece) from another vendor. Rob has a tin of 50 that I just ordered, don't have it yet, the pics look cool. When you smoke these it is very important to draw softly or they will burn too hot.
frenchkiwi Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Have enjoyed plenty of cohiba and montecristo clubs with a quick coffee. minis too small for me. in my experience with them, the tobacco has been good quality stuff, and they are really very tasty and roughly follow the profile of their big brothers. in fact they are addictive. you are warned ;-)
El Presidente Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Partagas Chicos and various Puritos are as small as I go. As has been said when you have 15 minutes you have little option. I find them the perfect companion to early morning rigging of the fly rod before heading out.
