cohiba Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 I have a full climate controlled humidor from Stabell. I love it! I also maintain a pyramid humidor that holds about 100 cigars, this is my dry box. I keep my main humi at 66% & 68 degrees. The dry box seems to maintain around the 60% level with no moisture added. I do have a cartidge style beads set at 65% to make sure nothing funky happens. Now that being said................... I notice a HUGE difference in the oily sheen that the dry box seems to promote. The same cigar in each humi looks and feels different. Of course the dry boxed cigar looks and feel more attractive than the other. But really, it is a night and day transformation. Even the touch seems to leave a slightly oily residue on my fingers! I love it and it would seem correct to think it would magnify the smoking experience as well.....maybe more rich? We have all discussed the power of the dry box technique, but i dont remember this observation coming out. I am alone or do others notice this as well?
Ellery Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Interesting post. Ive never really studied the cigar after dry boxing. I definately notice a difference in taste/draw but next time, Im going take a good look at the wrapper etc.
