bolivr Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 A quick and dirty run-down: The #1 is certainly more of an aficianado smoke, thin ring, not a whole lot of smoke volume as you would expect. It smokes cool and slow. There was not a rough edge to the flavours at all and I think I have agreed with all the other reviews on FoH, there is plenty of flavour and these are on the lighter side like mixed dried peel, kind of semi-sweet like marmalade, and I reckon today there was a flash of aniseed. The draw was fine which was lucky ( a bit of a lottery since we are talking about '01 when many CCs had draw problems). The burn needed a lot of regular small touch ups with the lighter which was a bit annoying but overall it was a smoke worth persisting with. A bit over an hour and I had only smoked about half the length. I would recommend these smokes as something a bit different , and to me that is part of the appeal of CCs, the variety. They are a smoke that you feel should be taken when you have the time to appreciate the nuances so they are not a smoke to have casually at a party say but more to enjoy quietly at home. Not a cheap smoke, not an everyday smoke, nice to have on occasion. Mike
aavkk Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Hmm... Sounds like the 02's have a bit more to offer. Perhaps though you had just a bad example because all the ones I've smoked have been nothing short of phenomenal and the 1/2 dozen people that have smoked from my boxes have all felt the same as me.
ksblazer Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 My favorite La Gloria in the line up is the No.1 When I want a great cigar on the light-light med range. I go for one of these. It's a shame that they are now discontinued.
