El Presidente Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Storms rolled into Havana yesterday and the waves crashed over the Malecon. We spent the morning revisiting some of our favourite Havana haunts. Had a long lunch at great little Paladar "Doctor Cafe" which grills a wide range of meats and seafood at a great price. The wine list is also extensive and pricing as usual all over the place with some magnificent bargains and some quaffers at 10 times the normal price....they need to check their wine price lists !LOL! Post lunch Old Havana to take Des for his daily walk, pop into Romeo y Julieta to catch up with Hamlet, back to apartment and kip for the nights festivities. Went to pick up a friend at 9pm, raining, smooth worn marble, my normal leather sole boots.....big fall....big cut....off to Garcia Hospital...8 stitches to back of the head....just came back from seeing the neurosurgeon now (following morning) for final follow up. Talk about exceptional service albeit at a Foreigners only facility. So here I am, Siglo II in hand, checking e-mails, tad sore. PCC party tonight and interviewing for a personal nurse in an hour. Could be worse
thechenman Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Prez...sorry to hear about the fall...esepcially with it happening at only 9pm. You easily missed out on another 8 hours of great cigars, lots of booze and good company. Still...great story material. Hope you are feeling better, and if not...I'm sure the Siglo II and a few drams of rum will have you feeling great in no time.
anacostiakat Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 You should be lucky you only fell on the hardest part of your body. Good thing you didnt get a brain hemorroid! Private nurse huh? Hope he is a good one.
ChanceSchmerr Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Ouch - glad to hear it wasn't more serious! Maybe interview for some new shoes too
Colt45 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Ryan splits his eye open, you your head - sounds like some bad juju. Perhaps a visit to the local santero is in order.......
OZCUBAN Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Wow Rob Hope your Ok ,then it could have been worse i suppose, still hope every thing is going good apart from little slip up ,i hear the new Behike's are some kind of smoke then they would want to be at a rumored 40% higher than normal Cohiba price, I would imagine you will have one at the Gala dinner Hope to hear any news about deletions . Remember to let your nurse help you in the days ahead The Irony is you were safer in the Amazon jungle ,and you now there will be people that will get some ammo out of this Remember a drink before leaving oh and the Deck shoes Seriously take care and enjoy cheers Oz
cgarner Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Don't worry Lisa is treating everyone awesome in your absent. Sure you can't stay one more week. There are a couple more boxes I need to order.
Tampa1257 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Always something new happening while you are in Havana. Did they have to cut your hair because of the cut to the back of your head? A little longer kip for the elderly could help prevent falls Rob.
toto Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 That'll teach you to quit the juice! Much like any muscle, you have to exercise it regularly or it will atrophy. Seriously, thank the stars it wasn't too serious.
strayvector Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Ouch...hope you're doing well and it won't dampen the various debaucheries you were planning on.
android Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Damn bro...sorry to hear about that. Smoke and drink hard and all will b good.
fugwumpy Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Word on the street is your new nurse is also bringing a get well candy-gram from the staff (or was that the bathhouse???)
Stormin691 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Dust yourself off and try again! Thats what I always do! Feel better...
cellinisart Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 That's ok, if they gave him lortabs he will be in better shape than going in
finecigar Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I am so sorry for your fall. Hope you will be getting better. Having a nice and enjoyable Siglo should ease the pain (if any...) Hope you won't fall anywhere else while in Havana

cookie_1978 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Sorry to hear about your fall. I am sure you had quite a headache this morning. My guess is you would have rather it be from rum. Enjoy the balance of your trip.
Buch0 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 All the best mate. Probably a great reason to turn it up a notch and get looser than you had planned on!! You have a perfect excuse now
Warren Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Mate you've just had a birthday and none of us are getting younger. After my last birthday I lost a finger, now you've almost smashed your head in. I think it's time you started wearing sensible shoes, something like a nice loafer with loads of grip. Take care of yourself Mate.
Buch0 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I think it's time you started wearing sensible shoes, something like a nice loafer with loads of grip. LMFAO!
Warren Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Enjoy the balance of your trip. That's the trouble cookie, balance was lacking.
Van55 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 That's the trouble cookie, balance was lacking. I'm guessing he didn't need any anesthetic for the sutures. Fully pre-anesthetized. Hope your head's OK, mate.
