This poor unfortunate had been left forgotten in its tube for easily 5 years. Finding it one day lying around at the back of a drawer it was dry and very crackly but rather than fling it out I stuck it in the bottom of my humidor where it has been re-hydrating for the last year or so. Decided to do a spring clean so here we go. Not hugely optimistic that it will be any good given the abuse it has suffered.

Aroma at cold – just light, sweetish tobacco, fresh rather than aged.

Draw – nice resistance, more sweet tobacco.

Construction: very fine light wrapper distinct veins feels well packed but light.

First 1/3 – starts off just below medium – straightforward good quality tobacco, hint of peppercorn / spice. Hint of nicotine harshness but not unpleasant. Aged character / flavour beginning to show itself – difficult to define / describe but you know what I mean.

Nice burn if slightly uneven. Nice whitish ash which falls off after less than 1cm. Consequence of the drying out period? Nor really worried, flavour is fine if not particularly complex. Slight hint of cedar from time to time now.

Second 1/3 – Much as before. No real evolution in flavour, still straightforward good quality tobacco with that hint of age and a nicotine twang – enjoying this more than I had expected. Ash hanging on a bit better now.

Final 1/3 – Cedar note becoming more consistent which together with mild spice is giving just enough to keep me interested but not particularly excited. Slight unevenness of burn at the start has corrected itself and has been good and consistent all the way.

Smoking this cigar was a little like drinking a wine that has the slightest hint of oxidisation or cork taint – there was a definite negative impact on the flavour from the poor storage but not enough to make you fling it out. Overall conclusion – fairly solid and enjoyable smoke but no real complexity to speak of. 86/100

Nice review on an ordinary cigar mate. You were lucky to get any sweet tobacco at all in this I think, given the surroundings it had been nestled in I would of thought it would produce nothing more than bark or a dried tobacco smoke with a loose draw. I hope your other cigars get a better life :)

The others are well pampered - its always the poor lil' runts that get more attention than they deserve!

Nicely done. I hate to see people give up on a cigar. I just found some cigars I had sent my son off to college with (mainly non Cubans), they were in a humidor with no humidification, top ajar. I am rehabilitating them and will try them out while I am doing yard work. If they are awful I will pitch them in the first 10 minutes.

Hey how about a better picture of your lighter! Looks interesting and significant.

The lighter used to belong to an uncle of mine who passed away a good while ago - He was a the 'Brit rep' mentioned on the engraving and was stationed in / on Diego Garcia in the 1970's...will post a better pic when I get a chance - as you can imagine it has tremendous sentimental value...
