-Maduro wrapper, very rough looking, lots of veins….like something out of a Ron Jeremy flick

-This comes from a box I purchased back in September, If I remember correctly, I enjoyed a couple ROTB

-Pre draw is sweet, young tobacco

-Very woody/chocolate start

-This cigar has a very loose draw, but pleasant cocoa/woody aftertaste, with more wood present

-Sadly, this cigar is more woody than anything, nothing like the other ones I have enjoyed, maybe it’s the dud of the box?

-The last 1/3 I feel I am just smoking tobacco and wood, where did all of the chocolate, sweetness go?

-I need to give this cigar another shot sometime soon to prove this was just a bad sample as I stated before, I enjoyed the other ones a lot and thought they were the best of the EL's from 2009

-8.1/10

Thanks for the review. I had two singles that were good, but did not scream "buy a box." With all the hoopla, I am going to revisit a few more singles to see if I just got unlucky...

I actually met Ron some 25 years ago. My brother was a professional photographer and I went with him to help take pix at this Miss Nude America contest in Indiana. Tough job. It was at some nudist colony. Actually it was a nudist trailer park. Ron's laying on the floor of this trailor asleep, looking like a bum. But when it was showtime, he was up on the stage being the MC and the girls all loved him. The guys in the audience on the other hand, were telling him to 'perform on himself'. I'm glad that didn't happen.

Thanks for the review

I have yet to smoke any of the 48's, but plan to this weekend. :)

Nice review--looks like there might be some inconsistency between sticks. I've smoked a couple from a box I purchased (I think mine is also June 09) and had one plugged and the other pretty good but not the loads of chocolate mentioned elsewhere. Thought it was just me given the overwhelming positive reviews the 48's have received.

Hi all i bought a box of these pre xmas have had about 4 and the good /dud ratio would be 3-1 have to give them time i think.

I just wish they were longer

The most visually upsetting description of the year. You've now ruined the 48 for me.

Thanks for the review(s) and keep them coming. I smoked one over the weekend and really liked it.

Just too bad these aren't a little longer, as I could easily smoke two of these cigars back to back.

X 2, they need another inch or so. These are the first ELs I have bought and certainly don't regret
