Bartolomeo Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 -Hard to find but they are out there if you do your homework -Slight box press, beautiful, firm construction, feels very solid in hand, maybe too overpacked? -Pre draw is sweet tobacco and earth with some musty hints -Tight Cuban draw initially w/ pepper, leather and wood -Smoking this very slow, light amounts of smoke dance around, cigar starting to draw a little easier -Not a lot of spice so far but more toned down flavors like earth, tannin, cedar and roasted nuts, more Rustic is what I meant to say I think -2/3 brings more traditional Partagas flavor of pepper/leather and spice, flavors are great, draw is still a little so-so -Ash is very light-Grey in color, layered tightly, still minimal amounts of smoke, seems like this is a very refined cigar, smooth in the transition from the 1/3 to the 2/3 -Flavors are abundant in this cigar right now in the middle of the 2/3, Solid Medium in profile, VERY enjoyable -At this point I wonder how much has to do with actual cigar and how much has to do with it being 8 years old? My guess it’s a nice combination of both -Final 1/3 encompasses some raw sugar, continued leather/spice profile, all very smooth in transition, very complex and not afraid to show it -Recently I have had good luck with the Part de Part #1, Part Seleccion Privada and now this Partagas Corona, all fine sticks -This was an outstanding smoke and I can forgive the somewhat tough draw -9.15/10 Bart

bassman Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Fine cigars. My boxes from MAR 02 are peppery, full bodied & very strong. My kind of cigars!
PigFish Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Damn shame you can't often find a better cigar at 2x the cost. Hmmmm... maybe that is why they no longer make them! Nice job Mate! -P
ksblazer Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I had a some 02 Partgas coronas as well. Burned though them pretty quickly as I liked that leathery/spicy flavor you mentioned. Too bad they are not around anymore
finecigar Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Terrific job- as usual! I enjoy your photos especially the comparison one. Thanks for this because I was actually curious about this cigar and how it would rate.
