ericC Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 So as per my understanding and the habanos website. All boxes from 03 2009 are supposed to have the new hologram and barcode on the stamp. well i bought a box of saint luis rey pacificos and the box is dated sep 2009 and i dont see either the barcode or the stamp. Please advise if this is a hit and miss thing or is this a fake? this was purchased online from a canadian retailer. http://s894.photobucket.com/albums/ac149/g...al%20or%20fake/
hoyopr Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Eric the bar code shows in your 3rd photo from the left, as well it is on the holograph lable. Nothing looks unusual to me.
Habanos2000 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I can't speak for the cigars, but the labels on the box look legit.
android Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I think your fine...hologram only on boxes purchased in Cuba and the barcode may have not been affixed or cut off. (grey market) This is a PCC release and I don't think that includes Canada. (it may though) I could be totally wrong about all of this and I'm sure we have others on the forum who will have better information regarding this. Just my 2 cents but with everything in my life to deal with, business and family ect. I don't want to have to worry about my cigar source, the Czar let's me enjoy my smoking experience with a clear mind and that's priceless.
rcsims Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Everything looks legit to me. It seems like they use the fancier and larger holographic sticker for the RE and LE products (not sure if this is standard practice). I have included a pic of a couple of regular issue boxes with the new green and white "Republica De Cuba" stamps that Eric is asking about. It doesn't show very well, but there is a small hologram at the top of the sticker and a bar code (mostly removed by the vendor) at the front.

FYI - I believe PCC owns Havana House, which is Canada's distributor.
ChanceSchmerr Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I've also heard that PCC Owns Havana House, I've not heard confirmation on that info though. Although I've not yet seen SLR Pacificos for sale in any Canadian B&Ms yet (and I have been looking!), I wouldn't be surprised if they started trickling in. Whereas the PL Robustos and Petit Belicosos are easy to find in Canada, other AP RE's are very rare in Canada. RA Estupendos I've only ever seen in one tiny B&M In Vancouver, for example.
ericC Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 thanks guys for all the help. the vendor i got this from said havana house was able to get a master case but it came in damaged and only 5 or so boxes of these pacificos were availabe in canada. guess i got lucky and got one. jjeng Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I may be late on the reply, but I know for a fact that PCC owns Havana House in Canada. You can get confirmation of this on the PCC website.
