I wanted to compare an original release Siglo VI to a 2008 and see what differences I could pick out

Cohiba Siglo VI GKI OCT 03

-Sort of light in weight in hand, well constructed, nice oily sheen to it

-Pre draw is barnyard, floral and aged tobacco

-This is my only second Siglo VI, first one was good if I remember correctly, I was in New Orleans and not paying too much attention to the cigar if you know what I mean

-Early flavors include citrus, very light hint of creme and cedar/earthiness

-This is a great size and hope this cigar lives up to the hype

-Long flavor on the back of the throat, dancing around

-Heavy on flavor, light-medium in profile for 1/3

-Very delicate flavors used, not heavy at all, like a nice French dessert after a 5 star meal, delicious but not heavy setting

-Cohiba grass shows up at the end of the 1/3 along with some coffee

-Beginning of 2/3 has a nice coffee/cream relationship with a touch of white pepper and Ginger, cigar is Medium

-Ash is a tight roll with wisps of flakes dancing off the sides, light-medium amounts of smoke

-I really feel that the best of the best leaves were used for this particular cigar, it tastes excellent with no

-Nothing better to me than a big stick that delivers flavor, that is rare in my findings so far, the Siglo VI is definitely that stick

-Cocoa and cream along with a hint of spice and grass continue in the middle of the 2/3

-My mouth is coated with the sweetness of this fine cigar

-Sweet wood is there at end of 2/3, gone is any citrus/floral hints, coffee/crème never leave each others side the whole time so far

-Final 1/3 is a solid Medium with cocoa, toasted nuts and light coffee

-I definitely enjoyed the first 2/3 of the cigar more than the last 1/3, I felt the last 1/3 was more one dimensional but still quite enjoyable

-Overall a great experience, an excellent smoke and the final 1/3 didn’t detract from it too much as most of the cigar was superb

-118 mins smoke time

-Could be my everyday smoke if not for the price tag

-9.25/10

Cohiba Siglo VI 2008

-Cinnamon colored wrapper, nice construction, light weight as well for its size, firm with no hard or soft spots present, not oily at all

-Pre draw is tobacco and Citrus

-Initial puff is Vanilla, citrus, grass and crème

-Cedar and crème in the 1/3

-Ash doesn’t stay at the party very long, drops after first 1”

-Light volume of smoke in 1/3, light in body

-Cigar is flavorful but not as smooth or rounded as the 03 in the first 1/3 and that slight harshness continues into 2/3

-2/3 was a tad muted in flavors compared to 03 but mostly toffee, coffee and cream, still very good

-Final 1/3 was a touch more enjoyable than the 03, coffee, wood, light chocolate and grass were all present and accounted for

-122 mins smoke time

-8.9/10 with a potential of 9.1 in about 5-7 years

Overall Differences:

-Thought the 03 was more complex, smoother and better flowing than the 08…….all things you would expect with an aged cigar of this quality

I really enjoy your reviews Bart. Short, concise, and you only talk about what comes to you as opposed to "forcing" information into a particular category. Keep em coming!

I thought the first release of these were the ones I bought in 03 with a June '03 code . . .

First release is 2003 what I meant, not any month ;)
