According to an article on Halfwheel.com, British American Tobacco will no longer be offering Dunhill cigars and pipe tobacco. They will continue to offer cigarettes though. I'm not well versed on who own's what these days, but it makes me wonder; is there a chance for Habanos SA to get their hands on the brand for the sole purpose of cigar production? When it comes to brand power in the tobacco business, Dunhill is up there with Cohiba and Davidoff. The brand hasn't sold like those other two for decades I'm sure, but it's pretty much synonymous with cigars and tobacco. Should it be offered for sale and the price was right, something tells me Habanos SA probably wouldn't bite as it wouldn't be one of "their" historic brands. And while they could never recreate, the short lived Dunhill releases of old, the potential of releasing new Cuban Dunhills seems promising.
