Hi Guys, Opening Day is just around the corner! I've been running a fantasy baseball league with fellow smokers since 2006 or so. It started at the Cigar Aficionado forum and have shifted to the FOH forum for the last 3 years or so. For 2018, we already have nine of 12 members, looking for three more. The buy-in is $50 with payouts to 1-3 (56.67%/26.67%/8.33%) and best regular season record (8.33%). This is a head-to-head custom 5x5 league over at Yahoo. If you are interested, please take a look at the detailed settings and let me know. Draft is this Sunday March 25, 8:30pm CST. Thanks for reading! Another exciting year of Baseball and the season is now one-fifth of the way through. How is your team going? Some highlights so far.... The Chicago Cubs have the best record in Baseball so far, 25-6. This is their best start to a year since 1907. Can they finally claim the World Series after 107 years (the last time was 1908) and put their 1945 loss, the "Curse of the Billy Goat" and the "Steve Bartman Incident" behind them? I must say, December 2015 was quite amazing for the Cubs, with the acquisition of John Lackey, Ben Zobrist and Jason Heyward. Their pitchers, Jake Arrieta and Jon Lester have been outstanding so far. If you are a Chicago White Sox fan, their record is currently 23-11. Left-armer Chris Sale is dominating every time he goes on the mound. It's a good time to be a Chicago Baseball fan! Is Boston Red Sox's David Ortiz's announcement of his final season premature? Especially in light of the season he is having so far? Bryce Harper, the Washington Nationals superstar hitter, is continuing to spook teams who are refusing to pitch to him in the strike zone. The Cubs walked him 13 times in their recent 4-game series, and in one of those games he reached base 7 times without a hit! (6 walks and 1 hit-by-pitch) Are the Mets grateful that Yoenis Cespedes chose to stay? 11 home runs and 31 RBI's to lead the National League so far.

I saw the following article today on mlb.com and thought to myself..."what the?" 'El Presidente' still embraced by Tribe fans CLEVELAND -- He's been retired from the game for 18 years, but no matter how much time passes, clearly, people don't forget. Rarely is Dennis Martinez called by his actual name when he appears in a baseball setting. He has always been "El Presidente," and he always will be, as evidenced by the reception he received at Progressive Field on Tuesday night before Game 6 of the World Series. Martinez, who pitched for the Indians from 1994-96 and was part of the 1995 pennant-winning club, had ceremonial first-pitch honors and is one of several former Tribe stars to attend World Series games that have been played in Cleveland during the postseason. As the affable Martinez made his way through the maze of media on the field during batting practice Tuesday, he heard, over and over, the familiar greeting: "El Presidente!" Full Article here... Ok, for me, there's only one "El Presidente", the one and only Rob Ayala, and I don't think Rob cares for any other American Sports team other than his beloved Buccaneers! Yeah, we all love and admire our "El Pres" for his knowledge and prowess for picking out those quality cigars, but it can't be all bad to be compared to a guy who threw a Perfect game in 1991, and is considered to be one of, if not the best, Latin American Baseball pitcher ever! Roll On Game 7 of this intriguing Fall Classic in 2016!

Hey Guys, Baseball season is almost upon us! A week or so away from opening day. I for one cannot wait. Personally its one of my favorite sporting events to attend live. I'm starting this thread to discuss the mlb season, discuss our teams, standings, games, doped up players, you know the ususal. I'll be keeping an eye on the Blue Jays this year, with their bolstered up roster thanks to Mr. Loria in Miami...(dont get me stated on Loria...) Expectations are high, Its defenitly Playoffs or bust with that team. I've always liked the BoSox as well. Something about that team always had me rooting for them. Pedro Martinez had a lot to do with it I think...Despite what pundits think, I think the Bosox are the second best team on paper in the AL East. I'll be following the Mariners as well since I am a seattle boy...they might surprise a few. All in all, i'll be watching as much baseball as possible. My routine summer time is usually to have a cigar on my balcony with the ball game on the tv in the house, or listen to the games online via a streaming radio. Howbout you guys? what do you think will happen this year? who do you root for? who do you think will be a surprise team? Let the season begin!
