This is another one of those cigars that I have an irrational love of. I went through a box of seconds of these (MUL Jun14 if I recall). Those were amazing cigars. Tasted like a cinnamon bun, but the wrappers were admittedly paler than my preference and not terribly oily, but they performed well and damn enjoyable to have. I had this cigar Thursday when I got home from working a track meet. Was a long day but the weather was perfect for a meet and the timing system I run worked without issues. So I deserved a cigar and beer when I got home. I had high hopes for this Dip2 because it was a PSP box. The wrappers were a colorado maduro (love that shade), silky smooth to the touch and oily. The flavors were long lasting, smoke was both thick and oily, and the burn on the cigar was perfect. Not surprisingly there wasn't a rough edge to be found. I got a doughy flavor off the bat. Cinnamon is there but it is very faint. Pepper and a tangy earth are the other flavors coming to the forefront. Throughout the first third my thoughts were mostly of "this isn't the same cigar I remember," which isn't a bad thing because despite lacking the cinnamon intensity the flavors melded well with one another. And it's gorgeous out and I'm totally relaxed. Second third found the cinnamon spice increase in intensity with the tangy earth receding. Final third the pepper became the primary flavor I get with cinnamon following second and dough being third. Burn time was 80 minutes. I'd give the cigar a 92/100. I wish the second third was the first third and the evolution started from there. That said it's still a damn enjoyable cigar. I'm not sure what the future holds for this box but I'd guess it's another couple points over the next couple years. There are 24 cigars left in that box, but I don't see it lasting much more than a year.

dicko Members 2,504 posts Posted September 3, 2016 · It is beautiful sunny day so ive an opportunity to have this long smoke. Lightish wrapper. Thin and supple. Great construction. Draw and burn was perfect throughout. Cold draw is christmas cake spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. First third has a distinct burnt marshmallow flavour! Haha yes i stole that but it did taste like that. There is a spiced wood character like sandalwood at the core. Coffee cream but milder blend coffee. Not much spice in the nose but woody. Geberally smooth but with some slight rough edges due to youth no doubt. Builds into a slightly darker flavour in third third. More coffee and some earth. I forgot to take a photo towards theend but i had 3 or 4 long ashes over an inch for each. Overall a complex medium bodied cigar with a ton of flavour. Of course these are spenno so i will not buy more than the 5iver i went into a split for but a very good cigar worth the coin if you have it. I would score it a 94. I am buying from a certain SE Asian Retailer a box of Diplomáticos Bushidos. I already have a box I hoy in Japan, but I have been looking for other. The retailer sent me pictures of the cigars (close ups) and they seem perfect, the lacquered box is great and also the outside black special cover. Still, I have two issues that I need to double check: - First the box doesn't have the brown cardboard box that comes with. The provides says Habanos ditched that box in the last few batches and put the green sticker right in the lacquered box (the box from Japan got the sticker in the brown cardboard not directly in the box). - Second the date is from 2016. The provider says that as it happened with Robusto Supreko, Habanos SA continued to make the Bushidos during 2015 and the beginning 2016. Have you had a box with these characteristics or can verify that those two points are true? thanks !

Pre-light draw was good, slight musty and barnyard. First third, very mild, mellow, baked bread, sweet mild retrohale. At the half way point I started picking up some sweet hay, now mild to medium. At the beginning of the last third I got a very mild pepper. Started having trouble keeping it lit at this point. Got some sourdough near the end. Total time about 2 hrs + This was my second out of this box. The first was very similar. I didn't get a lot of complexity out of these so far, but it was still enjoyable.
