  1. I apologize as I am not active on the forum, but I have been a longtime customer of Rob and fan of this community. I have to say OLH is the best! As someone who lives in two countries, this has been like having a mobile aging room where I can ship a box to my location of choice anytime I want. Over the last couple of years, I have been smoking less and accumulating a lot of cigars. Most of my stock in OLH is around 4-5 years old or more. I would love to get a few more years on some of those boxes. With that said, do I have to ship five boxes out by the end of 2017 or end of 2016? Also, not to complicate things further, but... If I purchase from FOH or CUNTINT, but send them home, by passing the locker, does it count as movement for my locker account?
  2. I bought a box (OGA AGO 11) about a year ago and every time I pull one out, I get scared and put it away. I haven't had the courage to even light one...
  3. Rye, I love that photo! My mouth is watering.
  4. '12 Cohiba PE on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
  5. LOL. No, but in the last few days... I did have the ERDM, then the RASS and finished with the Gold Medal all yesterday afternoon. A three cigar day is an extremely rare for me.
  6. I just had a smoke-a-thon and took some photos with my phone. This is my first attempt at posting pictures, so I hope this works '10 Cohiba Siglo IV '12 Partagas 898 '10 Trinidad Robusto T '07 Bolivar Gold Medal '10 RASS '09 ERDM Petit Compania **Next time I'll work on getting larger photos to show
  7. I don't think a vote will get you the results of which box of cigars is right for you. You have a pretty large variation of sizes and flavors in your list. How did you narrow your choices down to these six cigars? I think you are better off smoking one before blind buying a box. I can only offer you my opinion on your choices given my experience smoking five of the six cigars you listed. I wil assume that since you said, "humi", you will probably want to be smoking from this box in the very near future. H. Upmann Majestic I have never tried these (or even recall seeing them) H. Upmann Royal Robusto There are only 10 in a box, so this might not be your best option if you are on a budget. With that said, these are great Robustos. I am smoking from a 2011 box now and I have a '12 box in my locker. I will proabably purchase another one or two boxes very soon. BBF Some people will say these need some time to balance out or improve their complexity. I have only smoked pretty fresh ones and probably less than a dozen. I am not really a Bolivar fan. While these are technically Campanias, if you like the piramide shape, the Monte #2's are a top notch choice and are about 1/2" longer than the BBF. Three weeks ago I smoked one from a Feb 13 Box of Monte #2's that I received from Czar in July. It was really good for such a young cigar. Bolivar Petit Corona I used to smoke a bunch of these, but I haven't in about the last three years. At some point Siglo II's became my go to petit corona and that is the only PC I consistently buy. I also smoke and store Trini Reyes, but they are a bit smaller in size than the BPC. I think the Gold Medals are the only Bolivar I truly enjoy. RASS Robustos are my most smoked vitola. I smoke RASS, Trinidad T's, CoRo's, HDM Epi #2 and a lot of PSD4's. I think this is a pretty versatile size for someone who will devote a lot of his storage capacity to one cigar. The Cohiba's and Trini's cost a bit more, so those may not be a good choice. I have recently smoked out of a box of '13 Epi #2's, '12 PSD4's and '12 RASS. They are all great young. While I am especially impresed with the '13 Epi #2's, given only the options on your list, I would pick RASS. Montecristo #5 I would look to # 4's instead if you want a small Monte. I burned through a whole box of #5's recently as I smoked them while walking my dog. The #5's are just too short at only 4". The shortest cigars I usually smoke are Reyes or Mag 48's and only when it is too hot outside to enjoy a longer smoke. Of course, this is only my opinion and may greatly differ from your opinion. Since you did list six specific cigars, maybe buying 1-4 of each cigar is the best way to "help fill up the humi"
  8. I think you will be happy with the HDM #2 as it sounds like you know what you like. I just smoked a very fresh one (LTB FEB 13) from our host and it was a really great cigar after only sitting in my humidor for a month. I was very pleasantly surprised. Have a Happy Birthday!
  9. Congrats. My wedding anniversary is also October 26th! 24th Note to self: Do not forget anniversary date.
  10. Unfortunately, I have made a few purchases at Havana Humidor over the years. While the high price was expected, the amount of over humidified tent pegs was not pleasant. Sitting in the sun and trying to puff one after another plugged cigars can damper your vacation... Definitely take your own. On another note, I last stayed at The Cove in 2011. The whole resort is going downhill.
  11. You scored better than 93% of the public and the same as 7%. Hahaha
  12. I always found Tower Hobbies to be an excellent resource. This link my be useful: http://www.easyrc.com/airplanes/index.html
  13. I think everyone loves Franks! Like others have said, I really enjoy some good vindiloo, but being in HK there is also a great selection of Sichuan food. And while it's not a "hot sauce", I really enjoy dishes that have Sichuan peppercorns. It adds a complexity to the heat. Here is an article from last year mentioning the spice: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/01/sichuan-peppercorns_n_1313300.html
  14. You can hop on the Aiport Express train at the Expo Center and be in the Hong Kong Station in under 30 minutes for HKD$100 (USD$13). The Hong Kong MTR station is in the bottom of IFC. Everything is you read in this thread is very accessible for you...
  15. As someone who has lived in Manhattan for my whole life, I have to say that polarbear's description of each cigar lounge is spot on and he covered the most well known lounges in the city. If you are only going to go to one lounge in the city, I would say Cigar Inn is your best bet. The only lounge I like not covered in his post is a very small one hidden in the back of Bar & Books called "Max's Tobacco Shop". It is very small and intimate. You can basically take the whole lounge over with a few buddies as it is often empty. Their cigar menu is lacking, so they are very relaxed about bringing your own cigars and will serve you some port they keep in the back and play any music to your liking. The room is beautiful and there is dedicated service. It is like having your own private lounge. For those interested in this type of setting, you can find some pictures of it here: http://www.barandbooks.cz/beekman/ (click the Max's Tobacco Shop link on the bottom left) That being said, I bring every BOTL from out of town to Cigar Inn. Since I really don't smoke NCs, I usually bring my own cigar to smoke, but everytime I go, I buy a few expensive sticks from them as I think it is important to support a great local business. The owners Bass, Gus and Billy are great guys and couldn't be nicer or more knowledgable. They'll even order some food out from neighboring restaurants for you if you get hungry watching a game on TV. P.S. Try to go during off hours - it can get very crowded.
  16. What's up? Are you still buying cigars? There have been some great ones in Live From The Humidor in the Water Hole. You should check out the auctions at 9PM EDT.

  17. Sometimes I use the V-Cut twice to make an "X"
  18. Like a lot of people here, I don't only use one tool for cutting. As of right now, I use a guillotine (Palio), a punch (Xikar 009), and a V-Cutter (Wolf). It all depends on the cigar and my mood. The only reason I don't use a scissor is that I don't own one. Now with that said, I prefer the guillotine. To me, it is the most versatile of cutters, easily slicing through everything I smoke (Gauges 40-50). There also seems to be an abundance of styles, shapes, brands and prices of guillotine style cutters making it both the most common and extraordinary of the four types. No matter the type of cutter/punch, my ultimate preference is for the sharpest one.
