Marevas (2/5)

  1. Le Hoyo de Rio Seco with a gin and tonic on the back porch. The cigar was gifted to me by the owner of the LCDH Luxembourg last year when I stopped in. nice cigar, but the 56 rg is a bit much.
  2. I am writing off about $1500 this year. They make nice gifts to clients and referral sources.
  3. Don't forget about all of those cigars that you bought this year to thank clients and referral sources....
  4. Woke up early to start smoking a pork but. Decided while I’m at it to have an HdM DC while everyone is still asleep.
  5. Taking the kids to a birthday party today. Getting up early to smoke a pork butt for pulled pork tomorrow morning. I’m hoping to enjoy a cigar and coffee on the back porch while everyone is still sleeping tomorrow, but that may be asking too much.
  6. There wasn’t any place to smoke. They said they could cut it for me and I could walk around town while smoking it.
  7. Just had a nice dinner at a restaurant called Havana in Bar Harbor, Maine. It is a Cuban themed restaurant, so I wasn’t entirely suprised that they had a selection of cigars on the menu. What did surprise me was when the waitress pointed out that they have Cuban cigars for sale. I couldn’t help myself, and I asked to see one. Quick glance was all that was needed to spot it as a fake (tell tale sign of off center Taino head). Still, pretty ballsy to advertise on the menu though.
  8. My old grill burst into flames on Friday night for the umpteenth time. My wife told me to go buy a new one. I may have gone a bit overboard. Testing it out with a ‘18 CoRo for this weekend’s review contest.
  9. Smoking a bandless presidente from last years Christmas sampler while the grill gets started.
  10. Invisibility. I would have chosen flying, but I simply don’t have enough height to spare.
  11. 5 for 25 ct dress boxes and 50 cabs, 3 for 10 ct boxes. In my cooler, along with all my boxes, I have a couple “high end single” trays and a large Tupperware without the lid. After I take a mostly empty box out, I label the cigars and put them in the Tupperware.
  12. Two hours is tough. I'll go against the grain here and say that if it was me I would head to the Nacional. Once there, I would quickly buy some of boxes to take home then grab a nice single. Take the single out to the veranda and relax for the next hour or so with some mojitos. Two hours just doesn't give enough time to hit up numerous shops in my opinion, and I love the Nacional veranda. Edit to add: Plus, you can change money at the Nacional if the line at the airport is too long.
  13. I’ve been in a bit of a cigar slump recently. The last few cigars have either had construction issues or just weren’t up to par flavor wise. Broke the slump tonight in a big way. Connie A with excellent flavors and perfect construction.
  14. Being extremely wealthy. Just like Batman and Tony Stark...
  15. Decided to go with a Bolivar PC after struggling with a horribly plugged Royal Corona. To start off, I love Bolivar PCs. There will always be some in my humidor. One of the reasons is that the flavor profile usually resonates with me (especially with a cold beer), the other is that I have found that they are usually consistent both flavor and construction wise. However, this one was a dud. None of those good spices or leather really came through. It was just straight tobacco, which at times was quite harsh. The leather and chocolate seemed to always be lingering in the background - maybe just to give me hope. But they never really arrived. 1/5. Going to grab a BBF in a few. Hopefully, my streak of disappointing cigars will end...
