  1. If you love golf, skip Pebble Beach and go to Bandon Dunes on the south-central coast of Oregon http://www.linksmagazine.com/best_of_golf/we-spy-bandon-dunes Rick
  2. Makes sense, but it used to disappear previously when I used the back button, so I figured I'd let you know. The quote box colors seem to working fine now. Thanks, Rick
  3. FYI, the last-viewed post icons are now there in the red and black themes, but not in the green... no biggie for me, I never use green, but I'm sure it's supposed to work for green as well One other interesting thing that seems to be a new glitch.... when I click on the icon, it does bring me to the first un-read post in the thread, but if I use the back button on my browser, the icon is still there (it should be gone, as used to be when I went back this way). It does go away if I refresh or return to the page later, so no real biggie, but I'm sure it's a glitch. Also, the "quote previous post" doesn't seem to keep the quote in the shaded box, as you can see here and in the previous post. Rick
  4. I do find it interesting how scripture is picked and chosen to be adhered to or not. My last post... as Skyfall said, the thread has gotten off-track. I support his original post, plain and simple: "I don't have a problem with gays playing sports." Plain and simple. Rick
  5. Because this was going to hound him. Blogs and various media were starting to talk about it, and this would blow up when the draft came. Best to get out in front of this and control the story than have the tabloids control it and hound him. He did not just decide to do this out of the blue for publicity. He is a public figure and has a life and a potential future career to protect. Is this written in stone somewhere? In a handbook? What makes race "in and of itself" a statement of ones self, but being a man or woman not a statement of self? Or being a male homosexual or a lesbian not a statement of oneself? Or being a musician, or a baseball player not of statement of ones self. I am a lot of things: white, male, formerly overweight (now just slightly ), an aging tennis player, a father... are not all of these things a statement of ones self, "in and of itself" or not... whatever that means? Incorrect. Phil Robertson did not just say he was against homosexuality. He called gays "homosexual offenders", grouped homosexuality with bestiality, sleeping around (with men or women), idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, the greedy, drunkards, slanderers and swindlers. Then he ranted about people, groups and religions not having Jesus in their lives. Who says gays don't have Jesus in their lives? And my religion does not include Jesus... I think my congregation holds an upstanding place, locally, in the US, and globally, and is moral, upstanding, and performs great acts of charity and caring. So no... he really did not just say he does not agree with the homosexual lifestyle. Time to wake up and smell the coffee. Same sex behavior has been around forever. It has been observed in over 1500 non-human species (well documented in over 500 species), and in humans, the percentage of gays in the population is thought to be anywhere from 5 to 12%, depending on the studies. It has always been and will always be. A biological certainty. Rick
  6. Absotively! Surprised there's not more love for these w/ all the SCdLH El Principe fans on the forum. My first choice, w/ RASSC, Trini Reyes, Monte 4 and Qd'O Coronas close seconds. Rick
  7. Thanks for posting this, been meaning to ask the same question. Hitting that "dot" icon to the left of the thread subject to go to my first unread post in the thread is a valuable tool. Switching to red does bring the icon back. Also not a red fan, but not as bad as I expected. All post text are still in black. Just the thread subject header and the member names are in red. Also the shoutbox member names, as well as the forum titles on the main forum page (that's a little too red, but I can deal until there hopefully is a fix). Thanks for the heads-up on the temporary fix. Rick
  8. As good as all the classic pairs: Burns and Allen, Felix and Oscar, Niles and Frasier. You ought to consider having an AED on the deck if Ken is smoking any more tight draws. Rick
  9. I do not think "semi" denotes 1/2 boxes. You can have Semi Boite boxes containing 10, 12, 24, 25, or 50 sticks. I believe it is used to differentiate from the Boite boxes, the difference being hinges, sealing collar and clasps (all from Trev's site... I know nothing Rick
  10. Here is Trevor's page for packaging abbreviations: http://www.cubanciga...breviations.htm This thread covers a lot of the cigar name abbreviations commonly used: http://www.friendsof...howtopic=110088 Cheers, Rick
  11. Smithy, go to the Dagobah system! Best wishes, mate. Rick
  12. You can also add a bit of sweet or dill relish to this. Can be called Russian Dressing or Thousand Island. Can also make lots of variants w/ various spices/ingredients (capers, anchovies, paprika, horseradish, etc.). I like the basic version w/ relish on a roast beef or corned beef sandwich on rye w/ cole slaw on it. Rick
  13. I can never turn off the political/social commentary black and white movies from the 50's and 60's when I see them on late at night: 12 Angry Men Advise and Consent Seven Days in May Fail Safe Dr. Strangelove The Manchurian Candidate Z And then these others: The Godfather Trilogy Casablanca Duck Soup Animal Crackers Horse Feathers Stripes Caddyshack Animal House Blazing Saddles Young Frankenstein The Princess Bride The Wizard of Oz The Sound of Music Field of Dreams Star Wars IV, V, and VI War Games The Da Vinci Code Angels and Demons Rick
  14. Closest I've found is the Xicar EX series http://www.xikar.com...ts/lighters/ex/ You can blow on it as hard as you can and when you stop, the flame is still going. Fine in light breezes, but heavy winds make the flame dance a lot... but then you probably wouldn't be smoking, yes? Supposedly, Xikar has approval from TSA that it is not a jet flame, but I still had mine confiscated at Myrtle Beach airport... some bubba's brother is enjoying it on the golf course as we speak. Down side is I'm not crazy about Xikar's quality control, and mine, as well as a friend's, was problematic. Xikar does have lifetime warranty, My friend sent his back for a new one, but my brick and mortar just replaces them on the spot, which is pretty convenient. Rick Edited to correct link
  15. I know the taste and quality doesn't always transfer in the same brand from anejo to reposado, and vice versa, but I've been trying lots of different ones lately and my favorites are the El Mayor and Riazul anejos. Haven't tried their reposados. Rick
  16. I smoke whatever I like, but a round of golf is always a good opportunity to smoke any larger format cigars in my humidor. Good God, Smithy, please tell us you're joking I know there is no shortage of ridiculous stuff in this world... especially ridiculous regulations... but this is just plain silly Rick
  17. Happy B-day Lisa. We miss you, we love you. Hugs and kisses to you, Frank and Dom. Rick
  18. Jawbreakers. I'm w/ Alejandro... I'll laugh to keep from crying. Rick
  19. All boxes available for OLH? Rick
  20. Oz shipping only, or are there alternatives available? Rick
  21. I hardly drink soda any more, and while I was mostly a Coke guy, I always loved Dr. Pepper. I liked the cherry flavor and the almond that Keith referred to. Now if you want a really vile soft drink, try Moxie. No way to describe it... take the sweetness out of a cola and add something bitter I guess. It has a regional following in the US, mainly New England... especially Maine. Rick
  22. Any of our brethren Down Under have the pleasure of making their way to the path of totality for the solar eclipse this morning? Maybe light up a stick under cover of darkness on the beach . I watched a few live streaming feeds from Cairns and Port Douglas. Really spectacular. I've got to travel to see one of these live someday before dementia sets in. Rick
